Default Who is your prized waiver wire pick up this season?

Just wanted to do a quick poll of who you picked up on the waiver wire this season who's helped your fantasy hockey team.

For me, it's hands down Shayne Gostisbehere, this kid is almost single handedly carrying my defense corps this season.

Also, picking up John Gibson after my Frederik Andersen went down for a while is proving to be a great move for me as well.

Same... Ghostbear all the way... completely off the leagues radar when I grabbed him after 5 games. I also nabbed Teravainen this past week, he has prospect eligibility into next season, while no help this year... could be a fantastic steal heading into next season

    For my three leagues:

Yahoo one-year (11 teams, 12 categories): Spooner, Barrie, Hellebuyck
Experts League (13 teams, 9 categories): Stempniak, Gostisbehere, Hellebuyck
UHL (salary cap dynasty league in sig): Dennis Rasmussen, Alex Biega, Garrett Sparks - much more difficult to find gems here

Leo Komarov and Leon Draisaitl. Joel Ward in the first half of season was great as well.

I had 3 players who were IR eligible/NA eligible that I drafted, so right after I drafted, I put them in their needed slot and freed up 3 roster spots. Picked up Slepyshev, Chara, and Plotnikov. 3 days later I dropped them for Parayko, Panarin, and Krecji. Later dropped Parayko for when Backstrom came off the IR tho.

Picked Hornqvist up for Boedker on Jan 5th, dropped Hornqvist for Fiala Jan 15th :-(

    For me, it's Andre Burakovsky.

In my 16-team keeper league (see sig.), most good players are already selected, either on a current roster or in the minors. In our league, a ''prospect, minor leaguer or farm-team player'' is one that has not surpassed 80 total games played. We have 4 drafts during the season to add a Free Agent player. During our last draft right after the Holidays, the Burakovsky owner had forgot to add him to his roster after he played his 80th game (was at 81). Since Burakovsky started slow this year, he flew under most of the managers' radars as many did not know his total games played and just assumed he was still the property of his old manager when the draft came up.

Let's just say that I am more that psyched that I got a hold of this guy before he started lighting it up. His old manager on the other hand... not so happy

I was reading that and felt like you kept pulling off some ''red paperclip'' moves by constantly upgrading from your initial assets. That last string off trades though (see bold line) is deserving of that unhappy face

Guess you can't win them all, but overall, you got some crazy upgrades there in Backstrom and Panarin!

Oh I should make it clear I didn’t drop Parayko for Backstrom, I kept Backstrom. When he came off the IR (1 of my 3 from after the draft), I dropped Parayko to free up the spot. But ya Panarin and Krecji have done me wonders. The Hornqvist one hurts because my team (although strong) lacks goals really.

    C: Stamkos, Backstrom, Krecji
LW: Panarin, ROR (C,RW), Datsyuk (C)
RW: Voracek, Carter (C), Little (C)
D: Karlsson, Buff (RW), OEL, Klingberg
    G: Rask, Helly, Reimer, Andersen.

Hard to let anyone go. I dropped Fiala for RNH (popped him on my IR), and picked up Mark Stone. But I quickly dropped him (3days), and added Marner (NA slotted him) and then picked up Gustasson (G), then dropped him to bring Andersen off the IR (I think). I make a lot of IR/NA eligible moves lol.

    Yes like Corey Schneider!
We dress only 1 goalie each week so at end of draft, about 20 goalies were picked.
After 2 weeks, Jones had like 4 shutouts. Got picked from wire.
When Price got down for the first time, I had to pick a goalie having no backup. Another gm picked Niemi just to make sure I don't get him.
I picked up Condon as Price was scheduled to miss only a couple of games. That went well for me, at least until Price got down again...
After like two weeks without a win for Condon, I had no choice but to pick another goalie.
Schneider was still on the wire.
He's 5th among goalies in our league right now, only trailing Crawford, Holtby, Quick and Luongo.
The best options still on the wire now are Mrazek, Ramo, Ward, Mason and Gibson.

Krejci (in both of my leagues) and Voracek in one league

also picked up Kesler, Hornqvist, Gibson, Ristolainen, Dubinsky.

It's been a good free agent year

Barkov and Draisaitl (and also Soderberg, Risto, and Hellebuyck get honorable mentions). All FA pick-ups.

Schwartz was an FA pick-up also, but we'll have to see how he pans out going forward.
