Ouch! In warmup none the less.

Malcolm Subban was expected to start Saturday night’s Providence Bruins game against the Portland Pirates, but during warmups he was hit in the throat with a puck. He immediately left the game and was taken to a local hospital where he remained overnight.

On Sunday, the Bruins released a statement on his condition:

Malcolm Subban was struck in the throat with a puck Saturday night during pregame warmups. He was transported to Maine Medical Center and was diagnosed with a fractured larynx. He stayed overnight at Maine Medical Center and was transported to Mass General Hospital on Sunday for further evaluation. He is in stable condition and will be sidelined indefinitely. The team will provide additional details when they become available.
Subban was sent down to the AHL on Thursday after Jonas Gustavsson was activated from injured reserve. He’d won eight of his last 10 starts with the AHL Bruins.

Best wishes to Subban as he takes his time to recover.

The injury to Subban should give Zane McIntyre the opportunity for a lot of starts. He has the ability to rise up to the challenge and looked good on the weekend. This might be a good time to buy on him in keeper leagues.

I own McIntyre in a couple leagues already. He's had a bit of an up and down rookie pro season but thats to be expected for goalies. This is a good opportunity for him.

This might be McIntyre's only real opportunity to make an impression.

The Boston Bruins have reassigned Jeremy Smith from the Iowa Wild to the Providence Bruins. He got the start tonight and stopped 25 of 27 shots for the 3-2 win. I did not see that coming.
