Who to keep?

I am in a 12 team yahoo league in its 2nd year and the time to choose our 7 keepers has come. There is a 1 round draft penalty associated with this league. The stat categories and rosters are as follows:

Runs (R), Hits (H), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Fielding Percentage (FPCT), Batting Average (AVG), Extra Base Hits (XBH)

Wins (W), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP)

C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, Util, Util, SP, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL, DL

here are my choices:

I think you keep: Bryant Sano Arenado Springer Syndergaard Cole Fernandez

With the draft penalty I would try and move Cutch Davis and Tulo for picks to replace the ones you are losing if possible.

If possible try and maybe package Sano with them as keeping 3 third basemen wouldn't be ideal and get a big thumper at first like a Rizzo maybe

Just so I am clear, the draft penalty means that if you keep McCutchen, you don't get a 1st round pick; or if you keep Tulo, you miss out on the 3rd round, etc. Is that correct?

I'd still keep McCutchen even if it costs you a 1st round pick. I am not sure you will get much better than him even if you had the pick but this of course all depends on who else would be dropped by other teams. I think dropping him is too big of a gamble for my likings.

thanks for the input. I am leaning toward keeping McCutchen as well as there will not likely be better options in the 1st round. I am not sure if we are allowed to raft pre draft, but will look into that for sure.

Oh if your not allowed to trade Pre draft then I would absolutely keep Cutch and drop Syndergaard. I would never let Cutch go for nothing in return but thought if a trade was available you could at least get an upgrade somewhere and keep your 1st.

I’d be tempted to keep Syndergaard over Davis, just because he’ll kill your average (my guess is sub 250 this yr). But getting a guy who will get 30-35HR (with a potential of 40) with a 9th round pick is nice. And you could get a Liriano, Tanaka, or Iwakuma with a 9th. There isn’t many 35HR guys available in the 9th round, there’s really only maybe Trumbo, Ortiz, or Texeira. And that’s IF they get released by their fantasy owners.
