Default Werenski unhappy at Michigan, considering leaving the program

There are lots of rumours floating around about Columbus prospect Zach Werenski being unhappy at Michigan and considering leaving the program. He does have options. A lot of rumours floating around that he will leave and turn pro (he is AHL eligible), but he is also able to go to the CHL where his rights are held by the London Knights.

There are loud whispers that Zach Werenski, the Michigan defenseman whom the Blue Jackets took with the No. 8 overall pick in the NHL draft last June, is unhappy in college and thinking of turning pro. The Jackets have had major difficulties on the blue line this season, and some believe the sophomore could help immediately.

As captain of Team USA at the world junior championship, Werenski has been in the news a lot lately. He had a goal and two assists in a 10-1 rout of Switzerland on Wednesday and now has two goals, three assists and a plus-5 rating in three games.

Because of course London needs another superstud D, right?

Interesting to see another high-profile prospect leave the NCAA mid-season (Bracco earlier this year).

Werenski looked f*cking lazy on the GWG against the Russians today. Just watching replays of that and he looks like he's gassed. No effort whatsoever to seal off the Russian's path to the front of the net. He'd get benched if he played like that in the OHL, let alone for a loving, understanding coach like Tortorella. Brutal. Good luck kid.

I hope he doesn't... I don't think any young d man is ready to step in and play for Torts and with the horses he has in front of him it could be one step forward but two steps back

They draft smart at the priority draft and take make swift trades on guys they feel they can lure back to the O. Take chances on players that pan out.

They take chances on guys who commit to the NCAA that often scare other teams away. A lot of these players say this as well so that they get drafted by London because they want to go to a team that can compete year after year and prepare players for the step to pro hockey. They're not the only team that does but they are the most successful at it. And yeah, I'm sure there are some under the table dealings that help with this.

Sonny Milano's rights were traded to London. What a surprise.
