I dont think its truly Kelly's fault the team underperformed but at the end of the day, it was his roster that underperformed. A lot of bad plays by a lot of good players caused this just as much as Kelly.

Oh well, onward and upward. At least he didn't guarantee playoffs and fail like some other new Head Coach this past season.

Funny management can't wait five more days and fire him after the last game. IMO...his biggest flaw was his failure to adjust, and thinking he could plug any player into his system and it would function.

    Ok...that's two.

He has a winning record in Philly.. He should have been giving a bigger leash.

Ol' Chip never met expectations this season. His handling of DeMarco Murray had to have factored into this decision. You can't add the league's top rusher and then make him a bit player and not expect consequences.

It does seem short sighted on the part of management, but when Kelly demanded more say in roster personnel decisions he was essentially betting the house. Another NFL team will most assuredly try to woo him, and he can easily go back to the college ranks so he'll be fine.

I didnt watch a lot of Eagles games this year, but from the times I did watch I think Murray was the one who made himself a bit player. He really wasn't that good this year.

Matthews was a better for fit for their zone blocking scheme. Kelly should have known that.

He may get hired in the NFL, but I doubt he gets the decision making privileges he had in Philly.

I expect him to get a big offer to go back to the college rank and he accepts. There he can be the "big man on campus" so to say all over again.

why not? He had a pretty good offense the past two years. He made bad personnel decisions

Offense wasn't overly that great...They were top 10 in his first season and now sit average-below average...They run too many plays and have zero clock management...people can sit there and talk about how many plays they run but forget the more plays you run, the more likely it is the play count runs up on your defense and that takes an enormous toll.

In terms of their offense, it has taken a dive since last year with "better playmakers". They did have O-line problems but that's not the entire fault of the offense. There is not diversity to the offense and it was quickly figured out this year. Only reason they've stayed competitive is their defense/special teams have been very opportunistic and generated a lot of their points. Overall, they have gotten worse in every major offensive category (except turnovers...those are 'improved'). He brought a college system highly focused on a dual-threat QB to the NFL and it worked somewhat decently in year 1 but was easily figured out this year.
