I would normally be screaming at you to do it, but in your situation I'm not sure it's a good idea. Is it h2h or roto? If h2h I would still do it because I don't believe in the value of goalies, but I don't see how you could afford to do it in a roto with 8/17 categories coming from your goalies.

It is H2H. (Updated my first post)

I sold off all my 2nd and 3rd tier players for the best prospects I could pry from managers.
So I have a nice roster that could be skater talent heavy in 2 or 3 years.

Fleury plus a couple other prospects now and be ready to compete for the win at that time.
With all the prospect skaters, I am in the bottom 4 of the league.
A top 1-4 pick should be coming in the 2016 entry/prospect draft.

Maybe try to land the next Gibson/Hellebuyck that comes along next season?

Thank you for the reply. Rep'd!

Just took another look at your roster, and you seem to have a dangerous mix of current superstars and far-off prospects (looks like you posted again with some mention of this). You have superstars and children, and in a few years you're going to have superstars and dinosaurs. Difficult to compete with both of those combos.

In order to win, you need to have everyone (more or less) on the same page at the same time, so I think you need to set some kind of a window and start making decisions based on it. If you don't plan on being competitive for a few more years, then I'm not sure Ovechkin is a very good investment. He's not ancient or anything, but goal scorers have a tendency to fade earlier than other types, and by the time your other guys mature he may be nothing more than a 2015 Iginla. You have a ton of high end talent and should easily be able to contend if you were to sell off some of the younger stuff and add some actual productive depth to your skaters (the reverse of what you've already done). If it was me I would take Ovechkin, sell off most of the prospects, and win this damn thing next year. Just my 2 cents

Even though it would hurt your goaltending, I'd still make the trade. Getting Ovechkin and Getzlaf is quite a haul

Goalie's worth is way too volatile to refuse this imho.

    EVERYONE....

Had to wait until 11:30am to see if the trade cleared. Pending Trade Vote was 6 Yes - 3 No - 3 Didn't Vote.

    Final exchange was:

    for
Holtby and Scott Darling (who I picked off WW the day before)

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for all the advice and comments!

Why did some people vote no to that? Do the guys in your league know that the no vote is not for "I don't like this trade"? lol. Terrific deal. You are getting two superstars (buying low on one) and an okay goalie. You'll be fine.

Thinking that VAN and Stone were going to regress this season, in the preseason I got:
Ryan Strome, Gabriel Landeskog, James Wisniewski* Wis got hurt on his 2nd shift of the season.
    for my:
Henrik Sedin, Daniel Sedin, Alexander Edler, Mark Stone.

and then got: Patrick Kane, Torey Krug, and William Nylander
    for my:
    Mark Borowiecki and Henrik Zetterberg

    In season....
Landed Mitchell Marner and Jussi Jokinen
    for my:
    Jimmy Hayes and Jared McCann

Got Tomas Hertl for my Michal Neuvirth

Acquired Alexander Wennberg, Griffin Reinhart, Dan Boyle and Evander Kane
    for my:
Jason Spezza, Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Jason Demers

Picked up Anthony Mantha for my Tommy Wingels

Snagged Robby Fabbri for my Jannik Hansen and Mike Condon

Lastly: Ovechkin + Getzlaf + Pavelec + Louis Domingue, Ari G
    for my:
    Holtby and Scott Darling

My plan was to use hot players on the WW and on my roster that were older than 30 years old
to flip to other managers that were just a few points behind the guy in front of them in the standings
saying that they needed the production of the player I was offering for the prospect that was eating a roster spot.

Fabbri, Mantha, Wennberg, Reinhart, Hertl, and Marner all acquired in that manner.

Will use these prospects to flip to address holes as the playoffs approach.
