I've been extremely impressed with both Puljujarvi and Laine, especially when considering they are 6-8ish months younger than Matthews - who for all intents and purposes, should have been in the '15 draft.

8 months may not seem like much, but at this stage of a player's development, it can be massive.

You're right though, 1st overall is likely going to be Matthews, but picks 2-5 are shaping up to be JP, Laine, Tkachuk, Chychrun and even Nylander 3.0 could be pushing his way up into that discussion for the 5-8 slot

The 2016 draft is going to be a lot deeper than the 2015 crop. No McDavid, but some real impressive talent in the top 10 and solid players all the way through the top two rounds.

Who is playing goal for Russia? The feed I am listening
(TSN 1290) to keeps saying Samsonov.... but on TSN.ca it has 19 saves for Georgiev. Anyone watching that can inform me?

    Samsonov got the start

Shame that Russia beat the Yanks. Would've been fun to watch the '16 top prospects battle it out.

Didn't think I would be saying these statements at this point, but :

    - Finland won 2-1 over Sweden with none of Nylander, Kempe, Puljujarvi, Aho and Laine getting points.

    - Only Russian point getter in the pool was Samsonov today. Woo! And no Matthews, Tkachuk sighting on the scoreboard either.

    - In other news, the Leafs prospects did some good - Timashov with an assist on the lone SWE goal and Kapanen scoring 1g and assisting on the other Finnish goal as the Hintz-Kapanen-Rantanen line showed up to play.

    - And I may have not noticed that Kahkonen was actually owned until now. Whoops. That changes things ;P

Crazy Joe is begging Kempe to outscore all of Lindblom, Timashov, Dvorak, Nattinen and Kahkonen to keep the lead over Burnsy.

But Metaldude and Praba can still fight, especially if Samsonov gets a win, and Saarijarvi and Kamenev do some damage.

USA is laying a BEATDOWN on Sweden. That bronze medal game is always a crapshoot. Neither team really wants to be there.. It'll take some time before both realize that a bronze medal is still quite the accomplishment.

It would have been nice if Matthews could have gotten a couple of points.

So Sweden's strategy of using a 4th liner to 'shadow' Matthews obviously did not work! haha. I am not sure if they actually did this... was not able to watch the game

I saw the first two periods.. Matthews looked pretty good out there, but didn't dominate. The 3rd and 4th lines looked pretty good though. Schmultz and Boeser were flying at times.
