    Our Goalie

    Our Defence

    Our Forwards

    Hicketts

    Virtanen

    Coach

An awful display all around. Average to below average goal tending and defence and a lack of a true leader up front/no dominate line. If coaching, Virtanen would have varnish stains on his pants by the end of the game. Felt sorry for his parents in the crowd. Why did Driftwood play so deep in his nets ALL THE TIME?? Make yourself look big and get your skates off the red paint. Better hope we get some more NHLers released from the clubs next year.
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.

I thought the Finns just outplayed Canada the whole game. They were fast and big! Sure they got danced around especially by Marner when he went through 3 of them with ease but missed on his shot on net. They just seemed more hungry. That's what it takes to win. They outplayed Canada. Comes down to how bad you want it. Whoever drafts JESSE PULJUJÄRVI is getting an absolute stud. He can pass shoot skate. The kid is a beast.

I actually thought Canada outplayed Finland the first period and with the exception of the brain fart at the end of the first period, Canada should have been up 2-0 after the first. It was Canada's best period of the tourney. After that, it was a battle that both teams seemed to want to win, and found ways to lose. One too many ways to lose for Canada I guess but I sure didn't feel Finland outplayed them the whole game.

Fair enough. It did go back and forth for some entertaining hockey. I will say this hat perhaps the Finns were able to keep the pace with Canada

Those are prime scoring chances that the defence pair basically gifted Finland (whether intentional or not). The goalie is just the last line of defence on those plays.
First goal you described was weak. Long shot, dribbles through the legs, at the end of the period. Second goal you described was legit. But he couldn't seem to freeze the puck all game. His rebound control was awful.

Curious to see the standings with Canada eliminated. I'm surprised the Russians did as well as they did.

I have one from after the CAN-FIN game up in the thread already.

I'll do a full update + file in about 2 hours, as I prep to watch the Leafs game to update the 7-0 USA drubbing.

It's the time of the tournament where players get eliminated and the leader-board is all about who has the most players left. I made a tab called "Compare Leaders" to help with this. I took the top 4 teams and have put in red the teams that are eliminated for easy comparisons.

Next update comes Monday, around 6~7PM probably, after the Semi-Finals. Note that any relegation games (The Swiss against Belarus) points do NOT count... not that many players from those teams were picked this year.

An interesting take on the failure of Team Canada this year and how the blame lies at the feet of Dave Lowry.

Finland.. well done. I've always admired the Fins and am definitely rooting for them to take the gold at home tomorrow.

Puljujarvi and Laine vs Matthews could be a great marketing piece for the upcoming draft and we all know how scouts love to see players go head to head - remember MacKinnon vs Jones in the Mem Cup a few years back?

i would love to see Pulju drafted 1st overall instead of Matthews, but no team holding 1st overall is going to pass on the latter...trading down could be a possibility though.
