    Default More on Gibson...

The consensus on the current threads here seems to have been that he will get sent down, but the fact is that Andersen has probably been ready to come back and it hasn't happened. And the guy beat PIT 2-1 tonight. He's not making this easy on BB, for sure. And now Gibson is being added at a frantic pace in Yahoo leagues. I don't want to be greedy, but I'm really tempted to drop Thornton and pick up a 4th goalie who I can't really use, just in case the guy really becomes the Ducks' #1, which seems more likely than ever right now. I'd figure out who to trade later, but a good goalie on a very good team is always a valuable commodity. Opinions?

Probably smart. Thornton will finish around 80-100 overall. You can find players who will produce similarly to that, especially in a 10 team league.

Andersen was on the bench as the backup tonight. But you'll have to wait till Friday to find out who the Ducks will start in their next game.

It's tough to say how this will play out in the end. But if you think you're going to use Thornton more often than a fourth goalie, I think I'd hold off on making this move.

As long as Gibson is waiver-exempt, he is going down. If Andersen or Khudobin is moved then maybe Gibson retains some value this year. Adding to the mess is the fact you are voluntarily joining the Bruce Boudreau goalie circus if you pick him up, and then the suffering you experience is entirely self-inflicted.

is it just me , or is Gibson built a bit differently than most tall goalies .I find he's longer in the torso / shorter legs

What Doug said - personally I think this pressure drives Andersen's performance/keeps his contract demands down. Remember Andersen had a fantastic start to the season so it isn't a Pavelec/Hutchinson scenario where neither incumbent is grabbing the role. If I'm in a keeper league I try and snag Andersen (Gibson's buy low is closed) but normal service will be resumed intne next week or two IMHO

Agree with this, if you can stay way from the BB goalie circus, you should. Look at my sig to see which goalies I own right now, it's not something you want to go through.

I had Halak, Andersen and Jones in my 1-year league until last night. My offense and D were solid and I could not move any players. With that in mind, I took a big chance and dropped Andersen to pick up Gibson. I'm not sure what will happen in Anaheim, but with Gibson's play since his call-up, I could not afford another manager getting him and being stuck with a backup.

Fingers crossed that the Ducks roll with the hot/better goalie for the remainder of the year!

ANA has to try to pass Khudo through waivers to AHL, don't they? (which should work)
Ducks gotta keep rollin' with Gibson.

I don't see BB going with Andersen as long as Gibson is playing so well. They might just carry 3 goalies until the situation resolves itself.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

Rolled the dice and just shipped TJ Oshie for Andersen. Nashville/Anaheim have such great opposite shedules I had to pull the trigger and hope for the best for Andy.

I predict Gibson starts Friday. Saturday he gets sent to the AHL because Anaheim doesn't play their next game until next Thursday. They would want Gibson to keep playing probably. They start Andersen next Thursday and Saturday in Buffalo and NJ, games which they should win, meaning Andersen keeps playing.

That's my prediction, but I find predictions difficult, especially those about the future (paraphrased from a pre-eminent physicist).

They have to send Gibson down. He's the only goalie of the 3 on a 2 way deal. Until they trade Andersson or Khudobin he's not going anywhere but the minors for the year. No way Anahiem takes a chance putting Khudobin on waivers. They have no depth beyond the 3 and he'd be snagged for sure by half a dozen other teams in need of better goaltending. Oilers flames etc! Let not forget Gibson seems to be having some issues with becoming apotential band aid boy. A few times last season he had weird injured like a hand issue that kept him out and a couple other weird ones.
