Default The tandem of Rinne and Dubnyk

These are my two guys. Wins and GAA are fine, Sv% is certainly not... They've both been shaky so far but Dubnyk concerns me. If you had to guess, what do you think the combined Sv% of these two should be by seasons end? I would REP you but I don't have any. Please let me get a few stabs at this from all of you. Currently in 1st but that won't last unless I can improve my Sv% as I currently sit 9th in that category outta 11 teams. Therefore, I might need to trade, but I'm not sure I need to do that. What do you think?

As of right now, they have given me a Sv% of .910..

I think their combined sv% should get around .916-.919. Pekka should get better. Both can really ... if one of their teams start getting hot like the Wild did last year it will go up very quickly.

You know what your problem is?

You drafted the exact same tandem I did LOLLLL.

I think Rinne will do alright but Dubnyk is definitely sketchy. Honestly though, I feel like any trade that you make you're gonna have to bend over backwards for a marginal upgrade.

I was figuring around .918 myself. Yes if their teams go on a run it could fly up, but I've been waiting for that all year so far..

Oh you bet I am! I can't approach anyone without hearing Dubnyk and Perry/Pavelski and of course I'm not getting a forward back anywhere in the same universe as those two. Picked up Neuvirth but he's just a backup. In my league, no one trades unless they "win" the trade...

I think Dubnyk will be fine. He'll positively regress towards .920 over the next couple seasons.

    - The team - especially the defence - hasn't played all that well/consistently up until recently. They've also had some key injuries.
    - He injured his knee early on and who knows how much that has affected him. Maybe it still is.
    - Purely anecdotal, but he is also expecting a baby soon and that seems to mess everyone up. It's a stressful time and you can bet the lack of sleep sucks (and will get even worse when the baby comes).

If you really want, try and trade him for someone like Bob. I've been talking to the owner of Bob in my league recently and it wouldn't take too much more on my part to make him do the trade. The only question is if I want to or not; and well.. since I'm in points only I think Dubnyk gets more wins. I really am confident his rate stats will get better (and be better than his average) going forward. It might take the whole season, or even going into next season, for you to really see that though.

I mean Dubnyk will play to a .915 or whatever over the long term. He will also be good for GAA and wins being on a good team.
Same thing for Rinne except probably a bit higher sv%.

I was thinking this myself. Watching the games, Minn. was not consistent and very shaky as you mentioned. Also didn't even know about the upcoming birth of his first child.. I'm sure that can change things quite a bit (nerves, focus, fatigue etc.). To land Bob or above it will cost me Perry or Pavelski. All I would be getting back as a return forward would be a 45 to 50 point player at best...(unprovens, 45 pt vets, bandaid boys or WW equivilants).

I'm just not sure I need to do that. In an ideal world, both of these goalies turn it around then I don't have to do anything, as I really can't afford to lose forwards like that. I guess that's why they always say be patient and wait at least 25 games before assessing the situation. Knee-jerk reactions this early always go bad. Last night for sure helped. Thanks all!

Both Dubnyk AND Rinne made some game-winning stops last night.

Rinne absolutely robbed Domi, and Dubnyk robbed Toews and Dano.

I saw the one on Domi, didn't see what Dubnyk did last night. Going to check out NHL on the fly right now as I make my coffee.

heres my "problem" with Rinne. hes a great goalie yes, but NSH doesn't allow a lot of shots so his SV% takes massive hits whenever somebody scores. if you save 16 of 18shots, that's not a great sv%, but you get a win perhaps and your GAA doesn't take too bad of a hit.
