Memorial Cup 2016 Pilgrimage

Heading out May 20-29 to catch the annual glorification of our best juniors. Caught the show in Saskatoon in 2013, and it made complete sense to make the pilgramage to watch the likes of McKinnon, Horvat, Domi, Drouin, Zadarov, Fucale, Jones, the list goes on. Saturday bar night included the mingling with dozens of scouts, and they were more than friendly to chat with everybody about anything hockey, priceless. Some of the guys-to-watch that they were talking about are just showing up now. Cannot take notes so you gotta try to remember the tidbits, and gets tougher to do as you get closer to closing time.

Bottom line is the show is the real thing for fantasy hockey junkies. It is all about the fans from across Canada, and they only wear junior colors whether the team made the tournament or not. (OG animals were the best!)

Public tickets are on sale Dec. 7th.

Got to be proud about my 6 yr old grandson. He was chosen as one to play ball hockey with the Rebels next week, promo thing.

News from the Red Deer Devils. On Dec 27th they traded a 2017 1st and 2016 3rd Bantam Draft for Jake DeBrusk from the Swift Current Broncos (1/14th BOS 2015). The Edmonton kid joins up with Adam Helewka (traded Jan 1 from the Spokane Chiefs) and I. Nikolishin as the top 3 scorers for the Rebels. Nikolishin has 22/32 for 54 points, while Debrusk has 14/22 36 pts and Helewka has 17/16 33 pts. Michael Spacek is fourth in scoring with 10/20 for 30 pts. Pretty impressive scoring package heading into the stretch towards the Memorial Cup. These 4 are putting up 3.3 pts per game.
