He should be shut down for the rest of the year. I saw this video last night and cringed, as I have gone through a similar experience. This looks like an MCL injury based on the fact he is skating with what looks like no brace. That being said, it seems there is also some ACL damage, maybe a pretty aggressive strain. I can tell you that the way he is gingerly moving around the ice, 30 days is fools hope that he will return. There is no confidence there in that knee and he has no strength to push off, cross-over or stop with pressure on that knee. Even with a partially torn ACL, you can maneuver around the ice, cross-over, stop etc, but pain is usually found with sharp cuts (not a big deal for a goalie). His inability to do any sort of power movement with his right knee indicates to me he won't play this season.

The Habs would be best to shut him down. Not because the season is already in the toilet but he's the face of the franchise and their biggest asset. Rushing him back will only delay healing and could enhance long term damage to the knee. Knee injuries are very tough to overcome and it doesn't take much to have a major set-back if you don't allow the proper healing to occur.

Tokarski is in Anaheim now (traded for Friberg about a month ago).

So this is Condon's team for the rest of the year.

Wouldn't be surprised to hear Price is getting surgery. Wont' be long before they have to consider having him healed from surgery for next year. If MGMT feels they get to the point he can no longer help them, he may go under the knife to be ready for next season.

It seems like if he would have gone for surgery when it first happened he might be back by now. Or at least would be fully healthy from rehab to do a proper training regimen in the summer. At this point, he will now be spending his summer doing rehab.

That's what I'm thinking. This season is over. They have to win 20 of the next 30 to get 92 points, which is what HIO estimates it will take to make p-offs. They won 6 games in the past two months.

Surgery should happen asap so he's as ready as possible for next season IMO.

Latest footage of Price skating. Looks more comfortable that the last time but all things considered, the best thing for all in involved is to plan for an October return and hope he can put this episode behind him.

Any progress with Price is a good thing. At least it shows he'll be ready for next year.

I hope he'll be good to go. If he goes under the knife in April because the rehab itself wasn't good enough, I wonder if 5 months will be sufficient for a full recovery/game shape...

Hopefully he keeps progressing without any setbacks!

Does anyone else think the timing of this is weird? For months it seemed he was making little to no progress and having setbacks. The Habs shut down a few players for the season due to injuries, and now Price makes a step forward. Fair enough, maybe now is just the time he is ready to don the pads. But if there's any player you're going to shut down for the season, wouldn't it be him?

On one hand, I would assume that MTL has given Price a mandate that if he wants to play for Team Canada in the fall then he'll have to get back to health and play 'X' number of games before the end of the season.

Then on the other hand, he's obviously a very competitive player and probably wants to get back into the games as quickly as possible. And who knows, if Ottawa can go on their run in 2015, some teams ahead of them were minor sellers at the deadline and Price coming back gets them mentally back to their beginning of the season 'Habs', maybe they can go on a run here and get into the playoffs - and playoff gates are good for all teams, no matter what.
