In fairness, I don't think he should rush into a move with McDavid injured. I know there's some push about the Oilers still sucking and now's the time....but they really shouldn't make that major move until they know what they've got, line-wise, production-wise, fit-wise, with McDavid healthy. Now you can add Draisaitl to the "he's legit' mix, and that wasn't known until a couple/few weeks ago. What if they'd rushed into trading him in the offseason b/c you know, "he'll be the third-line cetnre with McDavid here now"

The Oilers absolutely may need ot make a major move, but they have to wait until they've got McDavid back. And back for a while

When was the last "win-win" mid-season trade in the NHL? It's all about rental deals these days. So I'm not sure what move anyone wants them to make. Nurse+ for Hamonic? Yeah, I'll pass. Way easier to make a bad trade than a good one. Everyone knows this but it always seems to need repeating.

Agree but I still think they could move Eberle for example to get some help on the back end or between the pipes....

I think most people understand it's obviously the right move to "not force a trade". I mean, when someone starts forcing trades in fantasy leagues it never ends well. It's just fun to pile on.

Suppose that at least Chiarelli has a reputation for making trades to address deficiencies within a team. If Tambellini or MacTavish were still in the GM's office, we'd be treated to another season of them sitting on their hands and then grinning like fools when the lottery takes place.

Hmmm. Dillon for Demers? Or E.Kane/Bogosian for Myers+Stafford (and some other junk on both sides)? Those are the only two I can think of that might qualify from last year. Or maybe your question was rhetorical lol

There's an easy solution here for two teams. St. Louis has an abundance of D and Edmonton needs one. They could trade Eberle and a pick to St. Louis for one of their studs on D. And before you poo poo this thought, I know it won't happen, neither team has the vision to do something like this but both should.
