Would you trade Gaudreau for a decent young goalie? I'm worried that Varly is gonna let me down this year. What about Jake Allen as return?

If you need help in goal, and it looks like you do, moving Gaudreau from a position of strength should be ok. Then again, Gaudreau should be pretty valuable in your setup heavily focused on scoring.

Anyone else got any input? I traded Nyqvist after I made this post so my forward depth isn't as solid anymore. What do you think, should I go for Allen?

Allen has definitely been given the keys right now but surely moving a d man makes more sense?

I don't see a D in his line up that will get him a goalie like Allen. If you move Gaudreau for Allen, you'll likely need a LW'er before too long. Can you arrange another trade, swapping out a D for a LW'er?

Probably not for a worthwhile one, no.

But that's my point - I'd be looking to find a goalie with a d man

Yeah, that's a slam dunk if he can do it. But he might have as much luck offering a role of tape for a goalie. I don't see too many D for G swaps.

Right, this is about the only move I can pull in this league that would get me a half way decent goalie, otherwise I'm stuck bent to the inconsistency of Varlamov (which, looking at other teams in my league, would still give me league average goaltending, but I wanna win this bitch).

Allen's numbers are probably bound to dip a little, but one thing to remember is that if the Blues are one and done again this year in the playoffs, I don't see Hitchcock being brought back. Is a Hitchcock-less Allen as valuable to you? If you want to win and you are sure about your chances, go for it.

In win now mode, my preferred move would be Reilly as he is the piece that stands out as having more future value than now value. But if Reilly+a goalie can't give you the upgrade in net, then yes, I would move Gaudreau for Allen. And then work hard at turning that D and goalie depth into more forward depth.
