My Goalies are a MESS....... HELP!!!!

League and team details are in my signature.

I have five goalies that all suck. Right now Elliott and Mason are on IR and they can stay there as long as I want.

So that leaves Mrazek, Ward, and Pavelec. I usually hold my breath with every start and expect the loss.

The only way I have been getting points from my goal, is to pick up a backup that is facing my goalie to ensure the win. That actually has been a decent strategy for the garbage I have in net. But that means I need to drop Vrbata and DelZotto to make room for all five, and then I still don't have a roster position for streaming. I would have to drop Yak to open that spot and he still have decent trade value.

So what do I do? Getting a goalie in trade is like pulling teeth in our league.
Do I drop a goalie or two, and if so who?

I would start pulling teeth haha.

Crosby for Price + a pick or two would be a good start! Just as an example.

If I were you I think I would try to trade for a legit starter while hoping Mrazek takes over in the next year or two. Pavelec and Mason are.. decent, in the meantime. If Price is too expensive, I would be looking at cheaper options like Bob, Dubnyk, or even Schneider (not typically of high value in a points only league). I know it's never fun trying to pry a starter away, but if I were you I wouldn't stop trying. One of your stars + a #3 starter like Mason must be an enticing package for someone.

Barring that, the higher risk option is to trade for the golden kids and then pray and hope (but only if you're convinced that you're out of the running). So Vasi, Gibson, Hellebuyck, etc.

gotta say a bit shocked that its hard to get goalies in your league with just w's and sho's I would think it would be easier and only with 11 teams but iv never played in those stats before so who knows.

I would dangle perry and thornton if possible to a winning team to see if you can get future goalies...

The thing that really pisses me off, is the guy in first is doing it with Anderson(Ott), Smith, and Greiss.

Wow.. his skaters are stacked, lucky, or both lol.

I haven't seen any team win with goalies of that calibre in any of my leagues (in 6 years). Maybe he drops down eventually.

I'd be trying to move out Crosby as part of a package to pull back someone like Fleury. Gotta give somewhere. I doubt anyone with Price will be very open to moving him, and you'll pay way more than you should, and more than you would for Fleury.

Just giving my thread a bump for the latest goalie developments.

I have lost one of my pathetic starters in Pavelec.

Gibson called up and should start on Wednesday. (Kudo is available too)
Helly called up and has a chance to steal starts and maybe the 1A spot?!?

Finding a trade partner has been next to impossible. The only option I have been given was Howard for Duchene which doesn't make sense, given that Mrazek has all but taken over the 1A spot.

I would grab Helly in hopes he grabs #1 job. Gibson is up for a short period of time. And definitely don't trade Duchene for Howard!

Crawford, Andersen, Khudobin this year....... started off well but now they're giving up 3, 4, 5 goals a game to some pretty bad teams.....

Just gotta keep trying to pry someone loose, either overpay, or jump when one of the contending teams get an injury. Since it is a keeper league I would be grabbing Hellebyck now and stashing him. Pavelec got 1 year left on his contract and he will be gone, that is when Helly will be #1.

Since I started the thread, I have been steadily moving up the league standings with basically no help from my goalies. I have picked up anyone with potential to steal starts or the #1 spot.

The most aggravating was yesterday. I had the balls to start Gibson against the Hawks and looked to have a freaking shut out. NOPE!!! Stupid Hawks, I should have known better.

I'm still stuck on the fact that you think Yakupov has trade value....anyway, I'd shy away from Price...rumors are he'll be out around 4 weeks (or more).

I find it helpful to look at the coming week's schedule on Sunday and determine which backup goalies might be valuable starts. Here's what I came up with this week:

Anaheim – 4 Games (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday)
Arizona – 4 Games (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday)
Boston – 3 Games (Wednesday, Friday, Saturday)
Backup goaltender Jonas Gustavsson should get a start on the Friday/Saturday back to back. Preferable Friday @ Calgary, opposed to @ Vancouver on Saturday.
Calgary – 2 games (Tuesday, Friday)
The worst team in hockey on a 2 game week, delightful!
Carolina – 4 Games (Monday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday)
Backup goaltender Eddie Lack could get a start at home on Sunday Vs. the Coyotes. I certainly wouldn’t start him with confidence, but he’s certainly in play this week.
Chicago – 3 Games (Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday)
Colorado – 4 Games (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday)
Backup goaltender Reto Berra could get a favorable match up @ New Jersey on Tuesday.
Columbus – 3 Games (Tuesday, Friday, Saturday)
Backup goaltender Curtis McElhinney could get a favorable start @ Philidelphia on Saturday.
Dallas – 3 Games (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)
If I can ever get a Dallas goalie and need wins, I do it.
Detroit 3 Games (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday)
Edmonton – 4 Games (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday)
Florida – 4 Games (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday)

I’m hanging onto Antti Raanta where I have him and picking him up where I don’t. Even in the worst of match ups I want a highly skilled Ranger goalie. Always.

Backup goaltender Keith Kinkaid could potentially start vs. the lowly Flyers at home on Friday.

Craig Anderson could very well start all 4 this week. Something to keep an eye on.
Philadelphia – 3 Games (Tuesday, Friday, Saturday)
Pittsburgh – 3 Games (Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday)
Backup goaltender Jeff Zatkoff could start on Sunday @ Anaheim.
San Jose – 3 Games (Tuesday, Friday, Saturday)
If backup goaltender Alex Stalock gets the start Saturday, it will be a difficult test against Tampa Bay.
St Louis – 3 Games (Tuesday, Friday, Saturday)
Brian Elliot could be in line for a win Saturday vs. Toronto.
Tampa Bay – 3 Games (Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday)
Backup goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy may be getting a tough matchup @ Los Angeles on Sunday.
Toronto – 4 Games (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday)
