    Default Knee-jerk reaction

Quick gets bombed in his first game and LA didn't look like a team destined to make the playoffs. If I can move Johnny Q and a prospect for either Bishop or Andersen, should I do that before Quick's stock sinks further, or is LA actually decent and game 1 was just an anomaly and I'm over-reacting?

    Overreacting.

I expect to see a lot of that for a couple weeks around here, both for good players starting slow, and questionable players starting hot.

If you guy starts slow, remember that you draft them for the whole season, not for the first couple weeks.

One game is a pretty small sample to make a trade decision over. What if Quick had Niemi's stats from last night(W, SO, 2 assists)? Would you trade him then?

Yup. Rask and Dubnyk had terrible first games, too. It happens.

Niemi's on pace for 164 assists! Get him before someone realizes it.

Seriously, patience is needed in the first few weeks of the season in order to prevent moves you're gonna regret. Having said that, I don't think the move from Quick to Bishop is a downgrade.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

These are my two goalies in my salary cap league where we count wins and sv%. Took a beating on the latter but at least Dubnyk got the win. The Bruins don't look too good right now, though. Traded in the offseason to acquire Rask (traded Andersen for him) and I am a bit worried seeing the Bruins play last night. However, I will most definitely not making any moves for at least a few weeks into the season. Wait until things settle down, November-ish.

I would rather own Bishop anyway but no need to make moves this soon!

Thanks, all. Much appreciated. I've been touting Quick's bounce-back all off-season in my league (I thought the missed post-season would light a fire) and then the Kings go out and lay an egg and just looked over-matched vs the Sharks. I'm not looking forward to what they look like vs a good team.

Like Axeman said, these first couple weeks will be filled with overachievers and underachievers alike. Stay the course for now.. unless you've got an overachiever that you can move for a more proven asset, that's always recommended.

If you make any moves based on 1-game you are over-reacting.

That being said I would rather own Bishop than Quick so would swap Quick + for Bishop if you can. Short term I think Andersen and Quick are close and I don't like Andersen more long-term given the risk of Gibson stealing his job.

Depending on the prospect, I'd rather have both Bishop and Andersen over Quick. Not based on LA's first game though. So don't do a knee jerk reaction, but do make either of those trades if it's not that expensive.
