Gibson for Nyquist

Hey guys, for the league in my sig...

Would you move John Gibson for Gustav Nyquist?

I don't have too much youth in goal and was hoping for Gibson to be that after Rinne..

I may also be able to ask for Jaden Schwartz instead of Nyquist.....which do you prefer?

Proven over potential IMO. Ya Gibby may be a star, but he also may never get a shot if Andersen plays lights out. I think the Bernier comparison is apt, and I am pretty sure nobody would take Bernier over Nyqvist. You never know how things will play out with tenders and I would take a proven top 6 stud in the making over a maybe gonna be a star tender, currently plying his trade in the AHL.

If someone like Hellebuyck is availble off the wire I'd snag him but ya, definitely grab Nyquist if you can!!

thanks for the quick reply...took Schwartz and a pick upgrade for Gibson. Hellebuyck is already taken but i have another prospect goalie in mind to grab

Not a bad trade IMO. It could end up bitting you in the butt, but it could also pay off. No risk, no reward...

Great deal - I like Schwartz too!

Maybe it is just me, but over the years I have come to value tenders less and less in fantasy, even though ironically they are usually the most valuable position. Over the past few years, the league seems to have swung to being very unpredictable re tenders and they are so easily avialable off the wire. Look no further than Dubnyk or Hammond last year and the list goes on and on. A nobody like Jones is now a starter in SJ, same for Talbot in EDM and by the year's end there will be a guy that came out of nowhere and racked up mega points.

Just too unpredictable a position to invest in long term. Hell, Jack Campbell looked like a can't miss and now who knows if he will ever see the bigs. I would rather keep someone like Pulock, especially with the trend towards young D in the NHL, than a random guy like Ortio who is basically one of many that can be plucked off the wire.

Since you dress 4D and 2G weekly. you already have Rinne, Holtby, Miller and Talbot.
I'd drop Khudobin for Ortio. I think Ramo or Hiller gets moved or Ortio will be claimed off waivers.
those 4 D don't really get all the injured and you have Wiz for backup. Keep Pullock.

I would not do anything yet... Pulock made the team so I would wait a while and see how he fares in the big league. I would also keep an eye on Murray in the AHL and see if he dominates once again. It sucks that Pulock is your most probable drop here, but I think both he and Murray have great upsides at the respective positions so that is why I would stand pat for the moment.
