Anyone expect big things from him this year?

Is Darcy Kuemper going to steal his job mid season?

Dubbie should be a great goalie to own this season. For now, MIN is stuck with 3 goalies at the NHL level and neither Backstrom and Kuemper will not get much playing time.

There's a chance that Dubbie struggles at times, but I suspect he'll finish as a top 5ish goalie this season.

I'm a believer, he's definitly worth drafting in every format. Temper expectations as his peripheals won't be as great as his absurd numbers from last year but he should probably get 35+wins 2.40gaa .918 sv%...maybe even a little better

No way kuemper takes his job. I'm not crazy about duby but on this site guys are nuts over him. More than a few have recommended him over Lindquist. I think dobber himself might have been one of them actually. Not a 100% on that though. Id maybe take him in the top ten but what stats you keep will play a part in this. Id draft him around guys like halak, crawford, Anderson, bobrovski.

Goalie value breaks down into several components IMO (with a nod to Justin Goldman, hope you are well):

    1. The goalie's skills, adaptability, demeanor, mindset etc.

    2. His team's defense corps

    3. His coach's overall scheme/team approach

    4. His contract and cap hit situation

Dubnyk is a very good goalie who generated respectable numbers in outposts of despair like EDM and PHX and was absolutely sensational in MN last season. His mindset and approach are top notch, he is quite relaxed in the net, calm under pressure and bounces back after losses well. The team responded to him with overwhelming positivity since they knew the goalie was the final piece for them to take the next step up in performance. Boy, did they ever, if Ottawa does not go on their historic run, the talk of the NHL was MN and how they dominated once Dubnyk arrived.

Their team defense corps is outstanding, deep, strong, resilient and reliable night after night. Related to that, MN's overall team approach is defense first so the F are all very good two way performers (ok, Vanek not so much but...) and they are very responsible in their own zone and neutral ice.

Dubnyk got a long term deal for good starter's $$ this off-season so he is set as the man. The team knows it and respects him greatly. Their confidence is soaring again to start this season. I do not see anything besides a long term injury (knock on wood) that could derail this Wild train.

He's a solid option moving forward. Even if he falters for a bit, his contract gives him some leeway and they will let him play through any rough patches as a bonafide #1.

I believe in Dubnyk somewhat, but I strongly believe in the Wild system. The Wild didn't need an elite goalie to get back into the playoff mix, they needed a goalie, period. It's every fantasy experts favourite talking point to say he will regress this year, but he now has a contract which will all but guarantee a healthy dose of starts for years to come. Unless he goes Backstrom on us and gets injured twice a day.

I judge somewhere in between. I donīt think he is as good as last season indicated but i also do not believe that he will bust with the easy competition he got. He is a solid choice but if other safer options are arround i go that route.
