That's way too many goalies to carry in any league, let alone one with 3/12 goalie categories. What are the best names on the wire at other positions? I'd consider dropping the last few names on your list if there's something good.
One-year Yahoo league, goalies count for just 3/12 categories (W, SV%, SO). Two active goalies per day, 6 bench spots, 164 GP max.
My goalies are:
Brian Elliott
Ondrej Pavelec
Michael Hutchinson
Antti Raanta
Jacob Markstrom
Basically I'm hoping to get all Jets games and at least half of STL games. Raanta would provide quality spot starts and Markstrom is a gamble with the VAN situation. Tons of backups are available on the wire.
Meanwhile my skater group is beyond outstanding. I'm not too alarmed by my goaltending as I think I can make it work and produce decent numbers but nothing spectacular. How alarmed would you be? Howard is being offered to me and while he would help I'm worried I'd have to give up too much quality in return. I'd rather sit back and wait for something better to be offered my way as I'm not a fan of Howard's situation. Where do you stand on this?

There's nothing really better than what I have right now. The reason I'm carrying extra goalies is because of the six bench spots. We have a lot of empty space.
Best FAs available:
Lehner (doesn't help me in this league)
Stalock
Khudobin
Vasilevskiy
Gibson
Reimer
Greiss (could be a target depending on Halak injury)
Kuemper
And tons more of this caliber...
My question was more about whether or not I should take immediate drastic action on the trade market. Should I be willing to overpay for a goalie like Jimmy Howard when he's not all that appealing to begin with?

I like Khudobin miles more than Markstrom. But to answer your question, no - I would not pursue Howard. His situation is spotty at best, and the other GM will probably ask for your first born.
People probably think you are desperate re: goalies, so I'd just hold out and see how your goalies play out before considering anything drastic.

Fair enough. But I see the chances of Markstrom surpassing Miller as less than the chances of Khodobin passing Anderssen. And even if Markstrom does pass Miller, how are a pile of losses and a crappy save percentage going to help you? Do you really think Markstrom's numbers in Vancouver would be any better than Lehner's in Buffalo?
I ended up dropping Markstrom for Greiss. That spot will definitely be in flux during the season. I like the idea of Khudobin for quality spot starts. Thanks everyone!
Stupid auto-draft...
