Well no GM's from that league seem to be in mine, based on team name at least!

I'm in a Fantrax money league as well. Here are the results for those interested: by round ; by team
Great draft strategy overview by P7. Have done lots of these and similar sorts of leagues; getting goalies and D early and often is the key. With SOG and PIM worth 0.5 points each (G=3, A=2), you can wait for people to reach on high scoring, low-peripheral forwards and feast on the 50-60 points, high SOG & PIM forwards that are worth just as much if not more.
I have never done a league that costs more than $50 and it looks like praba's $100 draft was much much tougher than mine; I wouldn't have been able to sit on players nearly as long.
We'll have to compare teams/drafts & see what players generically slide or get reached for.
I noted in Praba's league that:
one team went all F, then D, then G.
one team went 2G, 3D, 5F in that order for first 10 rounds.
Attached is PDF of the two drafts side-by-side.
(My vlookup is glitching in my excel, or I'd have just avg'd the two)
Click PDF to view.
For ease of draft analysis, I also:
RED - Goalies. Counted by position drafted: G01, G02, etc. (12 teams x 2G starter slots... makes 24G the key count#)
GREEN - Defensemen. Counted by position drafted: D01, D02, etc. (12 teams x 3D starter slots... makes 36D... or 48D with +1D bench for most teams... as key count#)
Gonna have to look through this more, later today!
Thanks praba, habs and P7!

P7, I really like the relative difference.
I have added a column to my spreadsheet that has that number already worked out for me so that I can quickly see the value vs waiver wire of a F or D.
I think Praba getting Karlsson at 9th was a massive gift!
I won't know my draft position until tonight but I will try and win one for the forums haha
My league is chatty so far, I asked 'how many of you guys also do this for a living'? and got one reply: "actually my first time doing hockey. seen a lot on center ice so i'm confident i'll do decently." I think he means he watches hockey on center ice lol

Do you have yourself a plan?
Personally, I think you'd be in good shape if you did the following:
First 5 rounds: 2G/3D - whatever is best available. Make 100% certain you get two workhorse goalies for your "weekly sets". I really like 10 D-men, in order: Karlsson, Buff, Subban, Burns, Letang, Weber, OEL, Doughty, Shattenkirk, Giordano.
Next 7 rounds: All forwards. Look to value-draft the following players who should be value adds:
6. Wheeler/E.Kane/Landeskog
7. Hornqvist/Kreider/Okposo/N.Foligno (if he falls)/Ladd
8. R.Strome/Lucic/Simmonds
9. Carter/Vrbata/Hartnell/Dubinsky
10. Kunitz/Saad/O'Reilly/Hossa
11. Bjugstad/Drouin/A.Lee
12. Dano/Pastrnak/Justin Schultz
If for some reason either DET goalie falls - take them, good risk/reward.
I'd really try to get Ryan Strome, he's ready to break-out and might be Tavares winger.
And I'd try to get Lucic, who simply had a bad year and if he returns to form should be a high-end forward.
Unless the draft order changes, I am slated to pick 11th out of 12 which I am not too happy about.
I don't even have an outside shot at Karlsson here, I don't think.
Strategy going in:
11th pick - best goalie available
14th pick - best defenseman available, byfuglien should be available here, he will not be available at 35 though. If I don't take a D here the top 5 D will be gone.
35th pick- best goalie available, schneider or andersen would be nice to add to possibly rinne/fleury
38th pick - long shot that weber is here, i'd like him

glad to see i followed pretty much that game plan. almost drafted 2G/3D with my first 5 picks but selected Toews with pick 5 as there were still a few D available that I wouldnt mind drafting at 6 (giordano, faulk etc). got my 1st choice in giordano so that worked out for me.
as for that D list ranked above, I think I would push Letang a bit lower. I'm no weekly expert but I think Letang's injury prone-ness would be annoying if you started him and he got injured, rendering his roster spot useless that week.
pretty much agree with everything else.
good luck on your draft dooley. post your results here afterwards
Posted a minute after you, I have made some little notes about value guys to add.
I think if I could start with Fleury/Byfuglien/Andersen/Weber I would feel very comfortable, Letang may even drop to my 5th pick which would be great.
I will go all F from that point on unless I can grab a real value goalie at this point but will keep on eye on other teams rosters as well.
