    Default Alexander Semin

Is anyone taking a flyer on Semin this season with the Habs? Why or why not? Curiousity.

Late round pick, lots of upside you can't find anywhere else that late. Only two years ago he was a PPG player with Staal. I'm gonna draft him hoping for 50pts and a decent shot total and maybe some PP numbers. Worst case I drop him and don't worry about it

As a Habs fan, I would hope for 60+pts but realistically, I would say high 40's to high 50's is a better range (49-59pts).

I had predicted 58pts in another thread if he played a full season. A scoring winger is a great bonus for a low-scoring Habs team, no doubt.

If you can get him late, why not? I doubt he does anything special, but he's worth a flyer in later rounds, or if you can get him for next to nothing in a trade.

    Sure why not?
He could be useful at various times during the season.
If it does not hurt your roster to own him, sure take a flier on him.
If he's doing nothing, throw him away.
I personaly feel he will disappoint but hey, take a shot at minimal risk.

He's once again playing for another contract so I can see him having a decent year.

I personally wouldn't take him for all the tea in China (what can I tell ya, I hold a grudge) but I can't see any good reason why he isn't worth the risk for your team.

I traded a 2016 2nd round prospect pick (should be between 26th and 32th overall) to get him. I need some depth and if he gets 50 points, i would be thrilled. You never know, maybe he can even bring more.

I also had him in another cap league, where his value is even higher. The $1 million contract i really nice. I was offered James Neal straight, so i pulled the trigger, but would have kept him otherwise to trade him at the deadline.

Definitely a late-round flier for me, the upside is just too high to ignore IMO.

Not a chance I take him in any league. I'd rather pick late-round guys who I actually respect and like.

Might as well try in the late rounds where you usually get duds anyway.

He's worth a late round gamble if you can afford it.

Doubt it. Maybe if he's sticking around a lot longer in the later rounds than I expected him to, but he's not really on my radar. New team is enticing, but in a broad multi-cat league like the one I'm in, his value sinks even lower as his offensive production and perhaps PPP are his only assets. I can think of many other notable late-round picks that cover more categories and probably have a better chance of performing strong next year than Semin.

And, like Big Ev, I just don't like him haha.

If you can get over this. Then I would draft him as others have said as a 50 point winger.

He might be a very useful player in a cap league. $1.1 mil and the potential for 50 points is real. If he were available in later rounds and I had to choose between him and Gomez. well, I might just choose Semin.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

IF I were to draft him there is no way I am expecting 50 points out of him. There are plenty of other 50 point wingers who are sure things out there.
