I would definitely take Couture, RNH is now #2 and likely not on top PP unit with McDavid there.

Nyq vs Tatar is close...I like Nyquist but a much closer one to pick from...

Nyquist over Tatar but this is close

Agree with both GoNucks and CHunter. Take Couture and Nyqvist.

In Multi cat it's no contest. Couture and Nyquist win by a wide margin. In points-only, though, this is a dead heat.
    The League:
11-teams, pts-only, no positional restrictions, top 12/20 count.
    1 in-season UFA (24+y/o), 3 round entry draft.
Unlimited (24+y/o) off-season UFAs after the entry draft.

    The Show:
Crosby, Malkin, Kopitar, Eberle, Couture, Krejci, Subban, Simmonds, Hedman, Jokinen, Kesler, Barrie, Johansson

    The Farm:
MacKinnon, Toffoli, Bjugstad, Spooner, Zucker, Bjorkstrand, Jaskin

I think its a bit premature to state that RNH wont be on top pp along with McDavid and others.....

    Couture & Tatar for me.

Note on Couture: It's possible that SJ eventually wakes up and re-builds. If so, Thornton will be dealt and Couture becomes C1. Value up.
Note on RNH: While I like him, if McDavid shakes out to everything we think... he'll be C1... Drasaitl could still be C2... I still think RNH is a potential trade piece for a D1.

    re: Nyquist vs. Tatar
I wouldn't have said it last year... but I think Tatar is the better player.
I think we see more of Nyquist because he's the bigger scorer & has flashier goals... but Tatar has better hockey sense and I truely believe he will score more.

As a purely statistical number note:
    Tatar: 29g,27a,56p. +6. 211sog, 19ppp. 16min/gp
    Nyquist: 27g,27a,54p. -11. 195sog, 24ppp. 16min/gp

Two years ago, I think we all saw Nyquist score 28 goals in 57gp and thought "Oh, he's gonna be a supa-dupa star"... but that was on 18.3% sh... which is unsustainable for most.
This is a really close one, but I actually like Tatar better (from what I've seen of them play over last season).

Tough one, like most I think Couture is the better option over RNH. Nyquist/Tatar, that's a head scratcher. I think it will really boil down to how the new bench boss in Detriot chooses to use these guys. I'm just guessing, but I can see Nyquist being deployed for offense and Tatar being asked to play tougher minutes. In a multi cat, the answer may be Tatar. In a points only, maybe Nyquist. Again, a tough one!

Not as simple as simply waking up and rebuilding for San Jose, both Marleau and Thornton have no-trade clauses built into their contracts.

In response to the OP, I'd go Couture and Nyquist.

    Agree with this 100%.

That said, the difference between Tats and Gus is pretty negligible, so there's a legit argument either way. (I too just tend to prefer Tatar slightly).
