    Default Scrivens vs Talbot....look deeper

I recently added Scrivens in the league in my signature....

I want to post the resumes side by side and you tell me why everyone is all over Talbot so much....

Scrivens age 28 Cam Talbot 28

    2006-2007 Cornell University.
    12 GP 2.30 .911
2007-2008 Cornell University. 2007-2008 U of Alabama Huntsville
    35 GP 2.02 .930. 13GP 4.63 .860
2008-2009 Cornell University. 2008-2009 U of Alabama Huntsville

2009-2010 Cornell University. 2009-2010 U of Alabama Huntsville
    34 GP 1.87 .934. 33GP 2.61 .925
2010-2011 Toronto Marlies AHL. 2010-2011 Connecticut Whale AHL
    33 GP 2.33 .924. 22GP 2.84 .902
2011-2012 Toronto Marlies AHL. 2011-2012 Connecticut Whale AHL
    39 GP 2.04 .926 + playoffs 17GP 1.92 .935. 33GP 2.61 .913
2012-2013 Toronto Marlies AHL. 2012-2013 Connecticut Whale AHL
    22 GP 2.22 .917. 55GP. 2.63. .918
    2013-2014 Kings/Oilers NHL. 2013-2014 Rangers NHL
    40GP 2.55 .922. 21GP 1.64. .941
Last year was a wreck...... 2014-2015 Rangers NHL
    36GP. 2.21 .926

To me this is the easiest choice to go with Scrivens....not only do I feel he is the superior goaltender but from a cost perspective he's such a better value play....

Yeah, but who do you think is going to get most othe starts in Edmonton? The new guy or the guy who didn't get it done, despite the numbers you posted, last year.

Nice challenge... But I watched skrivvy really closely in Toronto. He IS a back up goalie trying to be a Starter. Talbot resembles a goalie with true starter potential. He hasn't had the opportunity to run yet short of Lundy's injuries. I'd bet my 1st round pick next year...he starts the year as THE GUY... And likely ends it that way.

Those #'s definitely favor Scrivens, but Talbot is the starter in Edmonton now.. I do think Scrivens comes to play though!!

Oilers signed Anders Nilsson this summer. Scrivens might not even be on the team at the start of the season.

Scrivens will be the backup but not in Edm, he will be moved very early into the season, as soon as CHia gets an opportunity. My hunch.

Numbers are one thing. The issue with Scrivens is the teams lack of confidence in him. Last year he simply gave up too many softies at the worst possible time. The team in front of him simply don't trust him and neither does the management. You'll never hear them come out publicly and admit it, but it's obviously clear there's an issue there with Scrivens and his play. If there wasn't, they wouldn't have made goaltending their priority this offseason.

Talbot is the #1 in Edmonton...they didnt give up those picks for a backup.

They also added Nilsson so I could see Scrivens not even on the big club.

My feeling is that Edmonton is killing goaltender confidence right now. Just look at Dubnik... how he was in Edmonton and now. Scriven did good things in Toronto and LA... but not in Edmonton. I won't be surprise to see Talbot loosing his confidence out there. After that... who could know what will happen between theses 3 goalies !

Scrivens didn't do good things in Toronto. He did good things for their AHL franchise but in Toronto he wasn't even a 0.500 goalie.

And I bet most NHL calibre goalies look good playing in LA.

I'm sorry but Scrivens isn't a good NHL starter.
