Hey guys,

I've seen a few Talbot, Mrazec threads and Jones inquiries. Who's the best option going forward? This year and beyond

Hey Vanity,

Welcome to the boards. I want to Talbot right now because I'm not sure who gets the reigns in Detroit - Howard is still in the mix and supposedly is coming into camp with a chip on his shoulder. If Talbot can be solid for the Oil, he could potentially be their goalie for a while - and I see them improving. As for Jones, I'm not fully sure. Yeah, the Sharks gave up a 1st for him, but I would rather go with Talbot if I'm rolling the dice on an "unproven."

If wins are most important then I go with Jones.
Of course as the title indicates, he's unproven in a larger role, but will be the #1 and a very strong team.
I think this gives Jones the edge here.

Talbot I think plays ok and comes in 2nd place on this list.

Lots of question marks about all these goalies for sure. Some good talent here though.

I would rank them:
Talbot (clear cut starter and his to lose)
Jones (50-50 and his to win)
Mrazek (great play last year with a shaky Howard but the crease is far from his off the bat)

Is this a keeper? How patient are you willing to be? Because I'd 100% go with Vasilevskiy, take my lumps and wait 2 years if needed - I like him that much. So if we're talking "beyond" - chalk me up for Vas.

It is in fact a keeper. 13 team. Goalies are highly rated due to the scoring system ( 2 for SO + 2 for Win ). So I will most likely be keeping 2 goalies. My other goalie is Bob ( traded andersen for bob )

I am I'm fact leaning towards Gibson. ( the andersen trade may be a factor here )

It's been quite the question Gibson vs Vas, and I've been following it for a while. I Could see how people would want Vas, as he played a few playoff games in the Finals. They did however elect to start an injured Bishop over a Vas. My feelings are that if anderson had injury troubles, Gibson would have played, and possibly stolen

Stalock started 20+ with Niemi at the helm. These numbers should go up with Jones being brought in.

Jones' crease to win though in my opinion. I could see

If willing to wait, I'd take Vasilevskiy here for sure.
I think Jones is the short-term option (because the Sharks should be alright still and they seem to have confidence in him).

Mrazec got my other vote. I think he steals starting job from Howard by the end of next season.

Howard will probably get traded next off season.

Are you in win now mode? If it's a keeper league that favours goaltending then I would sacrifice the now for a stud later

Gibson - will light up the A and be the starter for 2016-2017. Big decision needed from Anaheim this year concerning goaltending. The khodobin move makes sense because rather than showcase one they can have both start a lot of games. ( Both contracts are up )

Vas - developing nicely, on a great, young team

Talbot- Edmonton will contend shortly. Just has to play well enough to be there when it happens

Mrazek- Howards contract is the only thing keeping him from the reigns

Jones - I think he's better than stalock, but it may take a third of the season to find out. I feel the sharks are a declining club

Lehner - Ottawa is a great place for developing goalies. Why would they let him go and sign Hammond and a collegiate prospect......Also not convinced E Kane and O Reilly are the answer. ( eichel...I know I know )
