I choose 24th out of 24 - are you sure you don't want to re-roll??

Well, I'll look at it this way - I'll be the only team with 2 picks in the top 25!

    Exactly!
There can be some perks to being "at the turn" later in the draft - though I won't divulge why that can be a good spot.

    I'm ready for August 1st!

    I give you credit.
I'm having trouble motivating myself to "plan" for a slow-draft.
[this takes nothing away from how excited I am about this league - just figure I have "time" to figure it out... which might cost me!?!]

I kind of figure I'll just make the pick when I get there.

The rewards though, I think, will be for those of us that figure out how to slot young prospects among with league veterans.
How do I make a list so that I don't lose track of Sam Bennett or Max Domi?
How do I slot those guys where they should be in a new draft???
I've gotta wrap my head around this...

Yes, doing both types of picks in one draft makes it very interesting and more difficult to plan for - also more fun.

I took this approach on another dynasty slow draft I did two years ago, then looking back at the draft results there were a couple rounds where I missed some good opportunities had I just made a quick list of notable players I wanted.

When leagues are this deep it's hard to remember everything.

    I'll help you out.

You should take a goalie with your first round pick, then his backup in the second round. In the third, just to make sure, you should choose that team's best goalie prospect. That way, you never need to worry about goalies again.

Are we talking about Mike Smith or more like Robin Lehner?

Actually I think he means Brodeur or Hasek, if either of them are available by your pick.

It depends on where you draft. If you’re in the top 10, you would probably want a more experience goalie, so I would go with Smith. Follow that up with Lindback in the second, and you’re golden.

Your plan B should be to focus exclusively on shot blockers and hitters early. Take Anton Volchenkov with your first pick, and Cal Clutterbuck with your second.
