The Washington Capitals added some goaltending depth by inking Dan Ellis to a one-year, two-way contract on Saturday.
Ellis would likely fight for time at the AHL level, but he's a nice resource if injuries strike. The 35-year-old spent the last two seasons with the Florida Panthers organization. In 2014-15, he played 37 games for the San Antonio Rampage and eight for the Panthers.

i dont think they trusted justin peters at all last season. hopefully ellis gives them quality starts.

Man stuff like this is frustrating. There are so many young goalies capable of playing in the NHL, yet Dan freaking Ellis keeps getting jobs.

I remember when i first hated it when Ellis came to FLorida but i must admit he has proven to be a solid goalie and a even better person. I wish him the best of luck and hope he proves people wrong again.

Grubauer is on a one-way contract, Ellis will be in the AHL.
