Stafford deal in WIN is 2 years, $8.7M
    That seems like a lot.

I didn't realize his old contract was already 4 per. So it seems more reasonable. I would have preferred 3.5ish, but an extra $850k on a non-cap team doesn't really matter. That's not going to kill your budget.

2 year term is key. obviously a bit expensive but if he doesnt work out it's not a big commitment.

From all accounts he played well in Winnipeg so I think this is a good signing for them. Short term and only a slight raise. Seems reasonable to me.

Depending if he's going to play RW on the second line or third it's about market value for a top9 winger on the free agent market.

$4m+ per seems to be going rate for 2nd line wingers.

Fact: Stafford's 19pts in 26gp with WPG was his 2nd highest scoring rate of his career. (had 52 in 62gp in 2010-2011... but normally a sub-50pt player.)

I suspect he'll be a lock with Scheifele and Wheeler on the second line. They played great together from the start. $4.35M for a second line winger is solid value. I'd look for him to eclipse 20 goals again finally, possibly sniffing 25-ish, along with 45 points, with a chance at a few more if all goes well.

Also, how good does that Kane/Bogo trade look now for WPG? Not saying it won't work out for Buffalo, but boy did this work out well for the Jets.

Solid signing for the Jets, especially term.

Guess I didn't pay enough attention to him last year. My first thought was that this was a huge overpayment, but he put up solid numbers in the 'Peg

It's safe to say that the Stafford - Scheif- Wheeler line will stay intact. I'm pretty sure he had more chemistry with them than Little and Ladd.

Will be interesting to see who fills in for Frolik if he isn't resigned. He hasn't resigned yet, right?

That spot could be calling Ehlers name. Petan might have an outside shot and even Burmistrov.

I like the fact that its a 2 year deal because he will be 31 one when the deal expires, so he has something to prove in these two years if he wants to cash in that one last time in 3 years time!!

Nice signing, especially because Frolik is as good as gone.. Now resign Stempniak!!
