It irks me when I'm on these forums (on mobile device) and I want to click on the tab to take me to the last post in a particular thread, only to click on the username of the last poster (especially if long username) and be taken to their profile instead. I always think folks will think I'm stalking them. Lol. I'm not. Just wanted to check the lad post but your long username combined with my fat fingers...

I friggin hate little small garlic cloves. I throw them right in the garbage. If I'm going through the trouble of squashing, peeling and cutting a clove of garlic, its gonna be a big one. Those little tiny ones do nothing. You would need like ten of them. F that.

Well, my internet search for "it's not about the nail" brought up links to a 2 minute film.
    Still confused.

Ok, I will. I'll try to find time somewhere.

Edit: Well, I watched it. Just more redundant meaningless drivel that reminds me why I hate movies. That's a minute 41 of my life I will never get back. Now I understand why that phrase irks you EMG.

When you’ve had a tough day at work, and you come home obviously showing that and your GF, wife, mom, roommate or whoever asks what’s wrong. Then say “nothing, it won’t matter tmo”, and you make it clear it’s nothing you need/worth talking about. Then the next day they ask you what was wrong yesterday. You calmly say, “Like I said yesterday, nothing worth talking about today” then they get mad at you for being “snarky”. And you know you can’t win that fight so you have to apologize.

Not like that happened to me recently…

The "Check Engine Light" - my car has a display panel that can tell me tings like "LIGHT BURNED OUT - BRAKE LIGHT"

Why not tell me "O2 SENSOR MALFUNCTION" or something relevant/useful, rather than a generic Check Engine Light.

Plus the fact that those sensors malfunction quite often.

There's a sequence of key moves and pedal taps that will get my car to blink the codes to me via the check engine light... a short google later and I know the problem. Can't imagine why you'd need a display telling you the problem!

People who choose to use speakerphone while on their cell phones. Seems to be some new trend where they hold the phone like it's a microphone while letting everyone around hear the person on the other end squawking away. Since when was it uncool to put the phone to your ear???

Well, long story short, it’s usually money in a dealers pocket. I have the code reader, pretty solid purchase when on sale ($199.99 down to $75 and fits every car). I am able to clear the code and turn the light off with it, same with places like Canadian Tire and other mechanics. However, if it’s a persistent issue, a dealer is able to restart your CPU, and 100% get rid of what is causing your car to think there’s an error. With all the things that can go wrong with a car mechanically, it would be hard to have a “light out-brake light” for the issues. Example:

I had a car (flex-fuel engine so very sensitive on fuel) where the check engine light went on. The car one day, wouldn’t start (in the winter) after work. I had to get it towed to CT and it sat inside the shop for about 20minutes before they looked at it. It fired right up. Turns out I had just put in some shitty fuel (at a Canadian tire station) and the heat of the shop warmed it up enough to get it going. I was told to just use the fuel up until my gas light went on, and get Shell gas, and go empty to full 3 times (no half fill ups). Later that week, engine light came on again, I cleared it myself (with my code reader), but because car’s CPU’s are so smart now it had adjusted so much in the ways of timing, fuel injection, air injection and such that it had straight up messed with my cars brain. It wasn’t shifting gears right, the stand still rev was messed up and even starting it was an issues some mornings. I had to bring it into the dealer for them to 100% reset the CPU to bring back all the small adjustments to zero. The cost of a dealer “check engine light” is $30 more than a CT “check engine light”.

So the issue of a check engine light could be that the O2 sensor is picking up bad readings. That could be either a bad O2 sensor, or bad fuel, or bad spark plugs, or this or that. Based on a car that doesn’t have a 6” display screen, you can’t display this issue. Now, how many car companies right now will have a CPU with that amount of extra programming in place for a part that is supposed to just place into all Ford Focuses, not just ones with 6” displays? In 5yrs when every car has a screen, it could be done. But the way cars are assembled, they can’t do that without a big raise in cost.

However, the whole “check engine light” is super annoying. Especially when it could be your gas cap. Gas cap is off should be like a blue light being lit behind the “check Engine” light instead of orange.
