    Default Calling Jeff Blashill....

Grand Rapids was just elimiated from post-season play. You'll be getting a phone call from a Mr. Holland in the very very near future sir. Welcome to Detroit.

Ya but Phil Housley didn't get hired by NJ after all. Swerve coming?

I'm betting there's no swerve on this one. Think Holland really likes Blash and promoting from within sort of follows their model after Scotty B left, moving Dave Lewis into the role. Not saying Babs is Scotty just mean in terms of a very successful long tenured coach moving on. Plus, McLellan is off the market now.

But maybe I'm being biased because I personally really hope they hire him!

I was not being serious. I'm fairly certain that Housley has zero impact on Blashill getting the job.

It would be awesome if Detroit signed Blashill to a $51 million dollar deal..

It's funny now but when all is said and done after his initial contract is up, I'd be willing to bet this cat nets himself a very very lucrative extension from Detroit. This guy is gonna do very good things in Detroit. Half these players are his kids that have come up through the system already. He's got more on the way. Similiar to Jon Cooper in Tampa.

Now if the Griffins / Wings can get Mantha's game figured out that would be awesome as well!

Detroit is not looking bad for the future. They are right in the thick of developing kids while the vets start to get older and older. They'll be fine and Blash will be great for the Wings!

Toronto is clearly cheating as they are saving money by not hiring a GM or any scouts... Apples and oranges...

Where I Dave Lewis coaching now? He was a big part of the Bowman coaching tree, took over the Wings for a couple years.... Now I haven't heard his name in a long time.

He was on Kirk Muller's staff that was gassed in Carolina prior to last season. Not sure if he is currently coaching.

What type of coach is Blashill? What will he do for the team fantasy-wise? Are we looking at a boost in scoring? What does this do for the goalies?

It's expected that Detroit will name Jeff Blashill as head coach next week, according to several sources.
GM Ken Holland hinted strongly who the club's next bench boss would be when he said repeatedly that a coaching announcement wouldn't come until the Grand Rapids Griffins completed their playoff run. Detroit's AHL affiliate was eliminated from the postseason on Tuesday. Blashill has coached the Griffins the last three seasons and his players captured the Calder Cup in 2013.
