Default Browns moving on from Manziel

If THIS is indeed true, Haslam needs to apologize for wasting everyone's time.

Josh McCown is firmly entrenched as the starting quarterback in Cleveland, to the extent that Johnny Manziel, a first-round pick of the Browns’ next year, appears to be largely an afterthought at Organized Team Activities.

What a waste of a 1st rnd pick. Sure the kid has issues but they barely gave him a chance to really play.

What a bunch of idiots running that organization.

I don't know much about him, but that seems like a waste of a good draft pick.

Is a trade imminent? Do other teams consider him a wasted 1st round pick? Interesting development.

If he needs learning time just stick him on the bench. Not every young QB is ready to start on day one.

They didn't start him on day one. In fact, they had him holding the clipboard for the majority of the season last year.

The whole Manziel story has been a complete waste of time.

Thing is, he was never scouted to have very good NFL QB traits. He'd ideally need at least 2 even 3 full seasons of development before sniffing the field. Even then his height and small frame were questionable with regard to withstanding the physical pounding he'd take.

Well they did invest with him so they must be aware of that fact. So why is it such a big deal that he's the backup heading into year two?

This had to have been a publicity thing. Browns just wanted to be the team that drafted Manziel so they could sell a few "Johnny Football" shirts and jerseys.

But having a 1st round pick turn into a true star for the next decade actually sells way more jerseys in the long run...

Haslam...not the coach or GM....Haslam insisted they move up to take Manziel. Owners need to just own, and stay out of the way.
