Not sure I like this at all for the Sharks. This is a serious downgrade from McLellan. DeBoer is horrible with roster management and managing young players.

DeBoer will work if they plan to keep their older players, I guess Jumbo isn't going anywhere. Bad for the young guys though.

i am excited to see how he does. He has a good system, and sure he isn't the best with young players but he also has not had a team as deep as SJ to work with. Plus he is better than Carlyle by about 100000000% so if I am a sharks fan I am excited.

I don't think any coach can bring this team to where they want to be with the current roster. Too much baggage. I think he'll do about as well as he can though. He certainly does not hurt them.

Agreed. Especially after blowing the lead vs LA, a roster and culture shakeup was needed.

With SJ missing the playoffs this season after doing ZERO damage the previous X seasons, I was looking forward to a shake up a la Philly dealing Richards and Carter. It might be premature to say that's not going to happen now but it's much less likely. Lame.

I think DeBoer will surprise us.. He is finally coaching a team that can score.. Yes NJ made it to the finals, but that was on the back of Marty Brodeur.. Not sure who will be SJ's goalie, but he will finally have 2 scoring lines to work with!!
