Another Karri Ramo situation?
Per twitter@FriedgeHNIC: RT @Aportzline: Confirmed G Oscar Dansk has signed to play in Sweden next season. 2nd-round pick (No. 31 overall) in '12 had a rough first pro season in NA.
Another Karri Ramo situation?

Dansk was not going to be the starter in the AHL since Forsberg has that job locked. With Joonas Korpisalo also arriving to North America, there's not enough playing time for all of them. So this actually makes some sense; Forsberg as the starter, Korpisalo as the backup, and Dansk as the starter in Sweden. There should be more playing time for Dansk a year from now when Forsberg most likely moves on to the NHL.
Considering McEhlinney is a FA this year, I expected to see Forsberg as the backup in Columbus, opening a door for Dansk in Springfield. Maybe he was told something different and simply wanted a great opportunity to play a larger role with a team.
I don't think this is the last we will see of Dansk as he works his way to the NHL. If anything, this could be exactly what the Doctor ordered to help him in his development.
Fantasy owners need to look at this as a plus and not a negative.

Too many solid backups available every summer for cheap. All Columbus has to do is join the game of musical chairs and someone will come to them.

agreed this is probably good news longterm, he's still really young and more playing time is the best thing for his development.

He was but I don't consider him as such anymore. Not because he's going to play in Europe but because he hasn't really shown anything after he was drafted. .909 was the best he's been able to produce, and that was during his final season in OHL. Sure, he's been very good in international tournaments but not over a full season. That's what separates starters from backups in my opinion. Of course there's still lots of time with him (he's only 21) but right now he's not in the top tiers anymore in my opinion.
+1 Eric.
I agree with Jouko too that he can't really be considered a top prospect anymore due to his play. Hence why Ramo (who wasn't as big of a prospect) is such a great potential comparison. I'd suggest Dubnyk too in terms of matching pedigree and stalled development.
I know I'll be watching him over the next few years to see if he can sort out his game and make a return to relevance.

I've actually favored JKorp over him for a while now.
