Keepers and Trade Options in a Keep 5
Hey All,
My team and league is in my sig. We keep 5 before the draft and I'm currently looking at keeping Tavares, Karlsson, Perry, Holtby and Tarasenko but I've got a few other options in Johnson, Shattenkirk, Backes, Crawford and a few more. I've got the 12th overall pick this year because I just won. Should I be looking to trade guys like Tarasenko and Johnson for picks and keep someone like Backes (stud in this format) or Shattenkirk? Keep in mind that we will be adding blocks as a category next year so those two should carry a little more value.
Could have a deal in the works to send Johnson and Crawford to a team for either the 3rd overall or two picks (2nd and 3rd round). Also could look to move Tarasenko for another pick in rounds 2 or 3. Should I keep one of the young studs or look to move them for the picks?
In an earlier thread I talked about having a trade in the works to send Perry and my 1st rounder for the 1st overall (McDavid) but it was promptly vetoed by jealous GM's unfortunately.

I think your current set of 5 keepers is the right one. I'd keep Tarasenko too.
If you can package Johnson + Crawford for a high pick or two, then I say go for it. You already have Holtby as a keeper, so I don't think you are losing anything at all by making this trade.
As an aside, what was the basis for the veto of your Perry/McDavid trade? I'm not a fan of vetoes of this nature.....

I'm not a fan of these types of vetoes also and I let the league know what the real purpose of vetoing is. But the pool is all of my close buddies and some of them are bitter that I've won two years in a row. Oh well, looks like I'll have to win again to teach them a lesson! lol
I'll try to make this trade happen asap. I guess I can't go wrong with getting picks for assets I cant keep anyways.
