ULTRA UNIQUE THREAD ALERT! Who to keep?
For the league in sig... Bolded players were my 10 keepers from last year. Do I stay the course? Or does someone like Dubinsky or Nyquist get turfed for someone like Gaudreau or Klingberg? My team was red hot to start the year, going 10-2 in the first half, but we ran out of steam and went 5-7 in the second, finishing third overall in the regular season and bowing out in the second round of the playoffs to the eventual champion. I think that as long as I draft well, my core is good enough to be a winner next year. Any thoughts are appreciated, rep for all constructive responses.

I would consider both Hossa and James Neal as questionable keepers.
I'd have no issues keeping Gaudreau over either of these two.
Another consideration is keeping Plekanec and moving Malkin to RW. With your league setup, Plekanec must have been a solid player in your league this past year.
I rarely keep D in a limited keeper unless they are something special. I realize Klingberg has huge upside but I'd want to see more of him before I would consider him as a keeper in a limited keeper.

I know what you mean with regards to Hossa, and it's something I have thought about. However, as long as he's healthy -- and he has only missed 19 games over the past 4 seasons, Hossa is a solid contributor. I'd be more inclined to move Dubinsky given his penchant for getting hurt.Originally Posted by islefan31

Plekanec is a consideration for sure. My team is one of the better teams with regards to depth, so I'm hoping I can translate some of my non-keepers into high draft picks but we'll see what I can do.
What's your idea of "something special" for a defenseman? Do Byfuglien and Kronwall qualify?

I wouldn't even think of dropping Nyquist when I have Dubinsky and Neal on my roster.. Hossa is consistent, but age is going to be factor way before Gaudreau!! Can you make some trades to make this easier for yourself??

Byfuglien is someone I would definitely keep. Kronwall is another borderline keeper in a limited keeper, but I can appreciate why you would want him. I just find that D are easier to redraft than forwards so that's why I don't value them as high.

You're right, Nyquist netted me more points than either of those two. However, Brodie, Plekanec, Vrbata, Hartnell, Gaudreau, Koivu & Edler all got me more points than either of those three. I think some trades are in order... the name value of guys like Neal and Nyquist might get me some value while I keep Plekanec, Gaudreau or Vrbata.
