i just can't believe the hype this kid is getting. not picking on you because in this case i seem to be the minority. he's going to be a star, but he's being treated as the next crosby, possibly even better.

here is my prediction because im not going to bash yours and then not give my own:

and i'm being generous there too just because all this hype is causing me to add to his totals. 50 is more realistic for me on the yotes. imagine if he struggled and was sent back down...

Now listen HERE. Connor is playing in a BETTER league than Crosby was playing and currently is scoring at about THE SAME pace as sid the kid. Put that into perspective

Have you seen many 18 year olds do what he is doing? 40 games in the ohl 107 pts. Yeah lets NOT get hyped around this guy....Oh wait I forgot players like these just grow on trees and get drafted every year like clock work!!!! But I understand your skepticism if you are indeed a leafs fan for WHICH I hope you guys get him. I'd wish for my habbies to get him but oh wait yeah we are BEASTING and have the best goalie in the business!!!!

I'm going against the grain and say he "disappoints" in year 1, 22G, 28A, and then has a big second year (ala Stamkos).

I also think he ends up a Coyote.

he's going to be a star, almost guarenteed. but the amount of hype (i bolded it again for you) is insane. 60 points in his rookie year on Arizona would be pretty damn good. i'd knock that up to 70 if he landed on another team and the stars aligned. but ppg+ in his rookie season, as you and many others have mentioned, to me is shocking. which, again, was the intent of my original post. but no matter what i say you will try to find a way to twist it, so i will exit this thread.

Here's an opinion

People who say "I don't understand the hype he's getting", shouldn't be allowed to have opinions.

This is not MacKinnon or Hall were talking about. This kid is special.

Stop trying to be the guy who will say "I told all of you" if McDavid struggles in his first year.

He will have between 70-80 points on Buffalo or Arizona. 80+ if a non bottom 3 team gets him.

Fact of the matter here is Connor is a way better player than Nathan MacKinnon is respectively (i did say respectively since you think i'm being rude) but ANYWAYS , In no WAY ..... no WAY is he only scoring 37 points unless Buffalo plans on turning McDavid into the next Nicklas Lidstrom and put him on defence!!

average goals per game in 05-06 was 3.08. This year, it is 2.75. A drop of about 10.7%.

given this drop in goals/points and the fact that I think McDavid is not as good of a prospect as Crosby, I will say it's not farfetched that he could score 80 points next season with upside for more.
