Backes for a Pick

Been offered a 3rd rounder. Second league in sig. Guys are being pretty tight with picks these days. I've got to get rid of some people for something since I have too many keeper worth guys.

Yeah I think I'd take that, it would be nice if you could do a bit better than a 3rd but you are definitely not short on options to replace Backes as a keeper so you may as well get the extra value out of the pick.

A late 1st or Youth+2nd perhaps

I would look around the league to determine what round Backes would be taken in if he was released back to the draft. With those cats he would probably be a 1st round redraft pick. You have a few nice options to replace him as a keeper, but I would want at least a 1st as payment for someone else being able to keep him.

Thanks for your feedback! I get what you're saying @roberto_alomar and @foofnik, but there just isn't a market. It's a keep 6 so there isn't much leverage when they know I can't keep a lot of my guys. Maybe I'll wait it out and see if someone comes looking.

I like the pick trade at 3rd. There is no way you are getting a first. And it's better to get something for him than nothing. I did the same with Holtby last year in a league that was keep 1 G. Traded him for a 4th and I was very happy with that. With only 12G kept I sought out a very weak team in net got whatever value I could. I think that's what you have to do. Especially in a limited keeper. Better a third than just dropping him.

Agree with the above if you aren't keeping him it doesn't matter whether it's a 1st or a 51st you're getting something for nothing as above I would shop around but if that's the best you can get (though I would play the old 'probably going to keep him unless an offer impressed me' line) is a third then take it

Thanks all! I've been in contact with a couple of GMs who are as slippery as eels when it comes to trade talks. Of course they were noncommittal to anything, but were both "interested" in upgrading a keeper so we'll see how it goes.

EDIT: Now looking deeper into his stats he's actually ahead of any keeper worthy forward in blocked shots and is only behind AO in hits for keeper worthy forwards as well as accumulating almost 60 points. Holy moly this off season is going to be tough.
