Downie a Keeper?
Hey guys,
I play in an H2H league with G, A, +/-, PIM, Special Teams Points, GWG+Shootout Goals as the categories.
Steve Downie is one of the higher rated guys under this particular setup (at least based on his current season).
Yet I think most of you would not rate him highly on any keeper list. Is it because goons are high variance? Is it because he gets suspended/scratched a lot?
Just wondering how you guys would evaluate a guy like him.

I would need to know a lot more about your league and your team to know whether or not Downie is a keeper for you. On the surface, I would have to say no since he is only great in PIMs. Goons are somewhat a dime a dozen and they don't repeat their stats as often as the scorers.
In a 10 league where we start 3C, 3LW, 3RW, 4D and 2 G daily. It is a H2H league - we keep 3 players (1 G max), are allowed a max of 2 keeps for each player. The number in brackets is the number of keeps I have left:
G, A, +/-, PIMs, PPG, PPA and Shots.
C - Larkin, Couturier, Kopitar, Cirelli
LW - OV, Panarin (1), Schenn (C), Ehlers (RW), Kreider
RW - Kucherov (0), Seguin (C), Palmieri, Voracek, Yamamoto
D - Yandle, DeAngelo
W, GAA, SV% and Saves.
G - Rask, Varlamov, Hart, Mrazek
IR+ - Tarasenko

Old thread of mine had this. Haven't updated it yet. It's just that from a multi-category standpoint, he's one of my best forwards. Could he not be the next Brenden Morrow? Or is Downie too "goony"?

RW: Boedker, Hudler, Lindholm, Yakupov, Nichushkin, Stone(*), Pastrnak(*)
D: Braun, Brodie, Carlson, Despres, Ekman-Larsson, Sekera, Enstrom
G: Hotlby, Miller, Pickard(*)
Farm (max 4): Bennett, Nylander, Kuznetsov, Seth Jones
Keep any 12 + farm. Anyone with a * can replace someone in the farm.
