The Oilers as a team were atrocious in the beginning of the season, and their current projections don’t look so good either. His move to Pittsburgh will certainly revitalize him, and I see him having a good playoff scoring run for the Penguins. His chemistry should start to click with either one of Crosby or Malkin and he will start scoring at a much higher rate compared to his days in EDM. His power-play usage so far has been by far the best upgrade for the winger, a chance to line up and play with Malkin and Crosby on the man advantage. He has already tied his season total with Edmonton at four, and on pace to score quite a few more with the penguins; since they are well in the hunt for home advantage in the playoffs divisional series they should be putting 110%.
Kunitz should be worried about this deal, in the near future Perron could supplant his reign on the top line. I see him working well with Malkin and Crosby on the power-play which will swing favour toward Perron to work with them even strength. Not to mention the fact Kunitz is aging, and top prospect Kapanen isn't ready yet but could be within the next two years. He (Kapanen) has a good shot, and can still be in the right areas defensively; within the next two years I can see him starting to make cups of coffee at the top level late next season after he has had close to a year in the AHL to get used to the pro game. Perron is in line to stay in Pittsburgh if they play their cards right in the offseason and don’t overspend on a winger. Bennett is another likely option to replace Kunitz in the top six next year since he has paid his dues in the AHL and bottom six, further cementing Perron within their top six since he isn't much of a threat compared to the former two time 20 goal scorer.

Newly Acquired Winnik shouldn't affect him too much; he (Winnik) will be used in a specialist, Penalty kill, defensive zone situations, much like his time in Toronto, and only increases their chances of being cup winners. In my eyes, investing in Perron in playoff pools would be a shrewd pick-up in the middle round of post season drafts.

Perron could hit upwards 17 points in the remaining 22 games for this regular season, and really surprise after his slow February, mostly since Crosby has awakened from his slump. His salary next year is a manageable 4.500 which should help in salary leagues, because he is a UFA at the end of the 15/16 season his motivation for a big pay raise should push his point totals upwards for his remaining time with the Penguins. For fantasy hockey his ability to get both offensive and defensive points is a huge bonus in leagues that count hits/blocks/PIMs. He has two straight 100 hit or more seasons in a row now. Along with his PIMs which is an added bonus within the last few years but as you can see still a little inconsistent year to year. Key with the move for Perron to the Penguins is that he starts producing power-play points at a higher volume being paired with two lethal centermen Crosby, and Malkin. His enhanced stats have been good this season with a well above .500 USATF 264, USATA 193 USAT = 71. You can count on a raise in the plus/minus department what was once his most obvious weakness should not be a worry, and stay near zero at the minimum.

The difference shows how many shots are blocked while he is on the ice, while this stat is only a slightly useful because of the fact that if your shot is blocked, it shows prior possession for your team which is always a positive. The oppositions way it rarely is done on purpose most players tend to miss the net purposely instead; which creates a chance down low from the bounce off the boards or a pass to the low forward. His low zone finish% could be attributed to being on Edmonton the majority of the campaign (38 games) with only 23 on the penguins to try and fix the horrendous possession numbers that happen when you are on a team like the Oilers.

    Conclusion
With his trade to the Penguins fantasy owners should be seeing more trade offers with significantly better pieces going back to them in return compared to when he was an Oiler. If you picked him up at a higher price, or are holding on expecting great things for your competing team, my end decision for you would be to buy/hold, might not get him much lower than right now with only six points so far this month, some people may be panicking. Don’t panic though because he will have a really good end to the season and the hype machine will over-value him even more going into next season.

Great article, I bought high for Perron recently after being traded to Pittsburgh as I thought he'd explode immediately (thinks back to his golden St. Louis says)... still waiting. But this article has solidified a spot for Perron on my team for the rest of the season. With Pittsburgh fighting for a better seed in the playoffs, I hope to see higher production throughout the entire team!

Insert the charts as images. I struggle with the charts in the forum as well.

    Tips:
    - Watch your capitalization. You randomly capitalize words. (i.e. Acquired, Penalty, Middle Round, Enhanced) Yet no capitalization on Oilers and Penguins
    - Numbers: spell out numbers under 10, but use the actual number for 10 and higher. For the sake of consistency. In your piece you have "seventeen points in the remaining 22 games" -> you write it one way and then the other, in the same sentence
    - Watch player spelling (Kapanen, Bennett)
Just some minor things that jump out, for you to work on (and as an FYI to others). Your analysis and knowledge are demonstrated well
