Default Nabokov sent to minors - Worth grabbing Vasilvesky?

Just saw on NHL.com that Nabokov is on waivers.
    TBL are recalling Vasilvesky
Is he worth a pickup? In the league in my sig, goalies are at a huge premium, the best available FA is Kinkaid or Montoya.

In my league, would you drop Gustavsson for him?

    Thanks for any thoughts

    I'd rather Vasilevsky than Gustavsson.

The Lightning have reportedly placed Evgeni Nabokov on waivers, recalled Andrei Vasilevskiy. http://thesco.re/1AfsSsj
    Tis true.

As far as grabbing Vasilevsky, I dont think he's going to unseat Bishop as the starter but if you have a roster spot, he will be good for spot starts.

Just added him for the second time this season. He'll need earn his starts but has been nearly ever game he's had this season. And I dont trust bishops health. He'll he more starts than they were comfortable giving Nabby. I say take a chance, ride and enjoy!

Odd choice for Tbay. Why not let the young stud play more in the AHL?
He's been splitting starts with Gudlevskis in Syracuse -- it might even make more sense to bring up the elder AHLer (of course that might be a contract thing?)

Just seems strange. Can't be ideal for him to sit on the bench for the rest of the year.

I actually agree with this. There has to be more to the story that isn't being let out. Why not let Nabokov continue to ride the pine behind Bishop and let Vasilevsky continue to groom in the AHL.

They probably plan on giving Vasilevsky enough games to make it worth it. Plus the could bring Nabokov back up at some point. This isn't necessarily a permanent change.

because nabokov sucks and they want to be able to give bishop a rest every now and then without writing it off as a loss.

    Nabokov's stats:

    12GP, 3W, 7L, 3.33GAA, .879SV%

vas should be nhl ready or close to it, and if he doesnt play well they can always send him back down and just call up nabokov again since no one is going to claim him.

In a dynasty salary cap keep, would you take him over Hutchinson? He just needs to burn a year off his ELC to be keeper-eligible.

If he's splitting starts in the AHL, why not bring him up...rest the golden boy bishop and let him split starts in the big show?

Agree with Praba here. Nabby has earned zero respect this year. This team is playoff bound with deep expectations... Best to do so with the best duo they can.

I agree. Bishop has looked pretty injury prone, don't want a guy like that starting 90% if the games because the back up is incompitent. Give Vasilesky a 30 games over a full season workload for the rest of the year.

LOL! Well it's true, Nabokov does suck but I don't see Vasilevsky sitting on the bench good for his development. He's still young for a goalie and needs to be playing. Stevie Y is normally pretty good at letting his guys develop (a la Detroit Red Wings) and thats why I find this move kind of surprising.
