goal predictions

goal predictions for the following rookies in 0809:

TJ Oshie
Steven Stamkos
Claude Giroux


I seem to favour Giroux and TJ Oshie over Stamkos at this point because i just dont see Stamkos putting up serious goal totals with Lecavailer,St.Louis,Prospal and Vrbata. I think TB will take it slow with Stamkos first year or 2. Any help would be appreciated.

I think the same reasoning could be applied to Giroux in terms of next year: Philly is young and deep too, and Giroux will not be put into prominence in year 1. Playing styles aside, I think the numbers game is in Oshie\'s favour for next year. He will likely have more opportunity than the other two in the immediate short term. That said, the totals they post could be mitigated by difference in style and skill.

I\'d still draft, for short and long term:
1. Stamkos
2. Oshie
3. Giroux

Oshie should see 2nd line minutes on a St.Louis team that doesn\'t score that much. I rank him 3rd out of the group.

Giroux will have to fight for top 6 minutes. If Gagne gets injured and retires early in the season look for Giroux to get a shot with Briere on the top line and do some damage.

Stamkos is in the best situation out of the 3. He has Malone and Vrbata as his linemates and might see time on the PP with Vinny/St.Louis.

1. Stamkos 15-20G
2. Giroux 15-20G
3. Oshie 10-15G

side note: Vrbata should not be mentioned with the likes of Vinny, St.Louis and Prospal. He is way over-rated and left a great situation in Phx.

i think this is what ankleburner was trying to say about stamkos situation in TB....

alot of \'poolies\' are OVERhyping stamkos to the point that they are saying he will be an immediate 30-30 man...:laugh:

although i like stamkos in a \'keeper\' style

for the next 2 years....giroux and stamkos are a wash in a goals pool

Yea, its really tough to peg, but Stamkos should be around 20 snipes this year... I\'ll be honest, I have no idea about the other 2.

It is really tough to predict goal totals, so I will give you a range:

TJ Oshie (10 - 20)
Steven Stamkos (20 - 35)
Claude Giroux (5 - 15)

Not sure if Giroux will make the team this year with Philly\'s depth.

Tampa will give Stamkos every opportunity to shine.

but 0809...theres to many proven NHL horses ahead of him to have 31 goal impact

i say 10-18 goals for stamkos in 0809

20-28 goals in 0910

30 goals plus in 10/11

Stamkos scoring 31 G will not happen. He;s gonna be a great player but as a rookie on the 2nd line behind superstars like Vinny and St.Louis, Stamkos will not get the ice-time or have the linemates to score 31.

St.Louis top 15 in the league in scoring and should have been higher if Tbay didn\'t bomb at seasons end. I\'ll take a slumping St.Louis anyday. He will improve on last years numbers.

amen brother, I dont understand these nut jobs calling for 30+ goals, thats just stupid. How many 3rd line centers scored 30 goals last year? Answer: NONE! In fact other than jeff carter I cant think of one that even topped 20 goals. Stamkos will be a star, but not this year
