Fighters have to instantly get into a fight now. This was in no way a staged fight, but they clearly stopped playing hockey and turned to fight. If they pushed to get to each other and got their hands on each other, the linesmen would have backed off because it’s no longer safe to stop the fight.
I was at a bar watching the game and we were talking how Dion needs to hit more, and fight more, THEN HE DROPS THE GLOVES! We were so pumped. But then they stopped it.

I think the linesman was thinking that Toronto has gotten beaten bad enough this year, no sense letting Phaneuf get beat as well.
I was more impressed that Phaneuf was actually willing to go with Iggy. Normally he wusses out on that type of stuff.
