Will be interesting to see everyone's thoughts on the draft. Unfortunately I had to autodraft and miss out on the fun. Thought I'd post my roster in a more readable structure:

C: Tavares, Turris, Ribeiro, Bozak, Legwand
L: Couture, Duchene, Hertl, MacArthur, Clowe
R: Nash, Brouwer, Yakupov, Stewart, Fehr
D: Kronwall, Demers, Bogosian, Greene, Boychuk, Dillon, Stuart
    G: Crawford, Hiller, Ramo

    A few initial thoughts:

    - Pretty solid at forward, especially at C and LW. My RW is a bit weaker but if the bounce back candidates can improve then I could be ok. Happy I got Brouwer as there isn't as much grit elsewhere up front.
    - Defence is a bit weak, but at least I have some grit to help with hits and a couple possible value offensive options in Demers (Boyle gone, more PP time?) and Greene (is he the #1 in NJ?). Bogosian is a wild card so we'll see if he can take the next step.
    - Solid #1 goalie in Crawford, and potential for a decent #2 in Hiller if he gets most of the starts. Obviously should struggle with wins but I'm hoping they'll have more low scoring, close games and he'll steal a few. Getting Ramo was a fluke given the computer only fills bench after starters. He's a good handcuff in case Hiller struggles or gets hurt. Hopefully they don't split throughout the season though, as that hurts in weekly leagues.
    - I'm even satisfied with my bench for now. Fehr could get onto Ovechkin's line. Clowe gives a good mix of offense and hits, assuming he remains healthy. Legwand should (?) be the #2 centre in Ottawa so will have some opportunities to produce. Stuart is great for hits, which would be helpful depending on weekly schedules.

Considering I had to autodraft I feel I have a solid squad that has a chance to compete. It should be fun.

Default Re: 2014/2015 Dobber PRO (Tier II) Campbell League

This might sound odd, but I wasn't particularly happy to be drafting from the #1 position. I usually prefer to be somewhere in the middle as I feel you are much more likely to get players at better value positions when you draft at consistent intervals. Having the first pick in the 16-team weekly league means that I won't get any of the Top10 goalies as nearly half of the picks in first 2 round will likely be goalies. I was hoping that I would have 2 good goalies available at my #2 and #3 picks, but had no such luck and decided to risk drafting just one goalie and hope someone adequate like Luongo or M.Smith would be available at my #4 and #5 picks. I couldn't get either and I ended up with a pretty questionable goalie duo of Rinne and Andersen so not that happy about how the first four rounds went. The rest of the draft went really well as I got lot of the players I wanted at later rounds so very happy how my skaters ended up. Goaltending will decide whether this team is in contention for the win or not, but I feel I should be able to scrape upper half finish even if my goalies absolutely bomb.

    Last Resort

    1. (1) Alex Ovechkin (Was - RW)

This league seems pretty much tailor-made for Ovechkin with Hits and SOG as categories and RW position giving extra boost relative to Crosby as well. Only other player I considered drafting was Rask as I was concerned about the goalie availability at my #2 and #3 picks and honestly might have been better to go with Rask considering how the draft ended up.

    2. (32) Pekka Rinne (Nsh - G)

I was hoping I could get one of Bobrovsky, Crawford or maybe even Schneider here, but no such luck so went with the last Top10 G available in my list in Rinne.

    3. (33) Dustin Byfuglien (Wpg - RW,D)

Might have been better off going with back-to-back goalies, but Byfuglien was just too good to pass up. I actually had Byfuglien as #1 rated D over Subban and Karlsson due to switch to winger boosting Byfuglien's hit totals considerably. Also blocks aren't a category so there isn't the usual downside of low blocks from D in selecting Byfuglien in this league. Going back-to-back hit monsters like Ovechkin and Byfuglien means that I would need to pass on high-hit for more scoring oriented ones later in the draft though. I would have to compensate for a poor +/- from these two though in later rounds as Ovechkin and Byfuglien will likely break even at +/- at best. I also considered picking one of Halak, Luongo, M.Smith, but decided to risk it and hope one of them would drop to me in the next round.

    4. (64) Max Pacioretty (Mon - LW)

Best winger available and it happened to be LW as well to keep wings in balance.

    5. (65) Frederik Andersen (Anh - G)

The risk didn't pay off and my goalie situation went from acceptable to very questionable. Decided to roll the dice with Andersen and hoping he would get the majority of the games in ANA. As long as Andersen gets 50ish games, Anaheim's high win-rate should keep my goaltending afloat and lead to about average point totals in goalie categories and rely on skaters to carry the team. Not a particularly good strategy to use in weekly leagues in my opinion, but draft often doesn't go quite as you planned so you have the deal with situation as well as you can.

    6. (96) Bobby Ryan (Ott - LW,RW)

I really hoped to get one/two of Voracek, Datsyuk, D.Sedin but all went just before my turn so had to resort to a backup plan in Ryan.

    7. (97) Kevin Shattenkirk (StL - D)

Went with the best D available and also needed boost to +/- so getting D from STL shouldn't hurt there. Also considered Edler, but didn't want to get another likely negative +/- player to go along with Ovechkin and Byfuglien.

    8. (128) Mikko Koivu (Min - C)

I often seem to end with Koivu on my teams and I feel he gets undervalued in most drafts. Really needed C too, preferably with good A,+/- so Koivu is a good fit here.

    9. (129) Scott Hartnell (Cls - LW)

Best winger available. I had Hartnell, Semin and Franzen rated about the same, but felt Semin/Franzen were more likely to be available at my next picks.

    10. (160) Mats Zuccarello (NYR - LW)

Semin and Franzen went so selected the best winger available that helped with A,+/- and PPP so Zuccarello was a good fit.

    11. (161) Slava Voynov (LA - D)

Very happy to get Voynov this late as I actually had him rated as Top10 D as he produces surprisingly high hit totals and stays healthy as well which is a big consideration in a weekly league like this. Should also help compensate Ovechkin/Byfuglien duo's +/- category deficit.

    12. (192) Justin Williams (LA - RW)

Another solid winger that gets usually undervalued. Gaborik coming in should be a bit of worry, but he played with Gaborik and Kopitar at even-strength last season so that role should continue. Williams wasn't in the 1st PP unit to begin with either so I see no reason to not expect another 50ish pts season. Also another player that should be decent in +/-.

    13. (193) Jake Muzzin (LA - D)

Another player to boost +/- and good numbers in SOG and Hits as well.

    14. (224) Tommy Wingels (SJ - RW)

I didn't really need hits, but wanted to pick a winger and felt Wingels was the best available by a quite a margin.

    15. (225) Sami Vatanen (Anh - D)

We are getting pretty deep into the player pool and decided to roll the dice with Vatanen as he could be pretty valuable player this season. From this point forward nearly every player will be dropped at some point of the season so it doesn't really matter that much who is selected.

    16. (256) Nick Bjugstad (Fla - C)

Needed 2-3 more centers so rolled the dice on Bjugstad breaking out.

    17. (257) Mathieu Perreault (Wpg - C)

    Another filler C.

    18. (288) Mike Fisher (Nsh - C)

Injured, but should provide better value than any other centers available at this point once gets back. Can be stashed to the IR in the meantime.

    19. (289) Dennis Seidenberg (Bos - D)

Could be dropped at some point, but very solid for +/- and hits so I might keep him longer term as well.

    20. (320) Michael Hutchinson (Wpg - G)

Just don't think Pavelec is any good so throwing darts at anyone who I feel has even marginal chance of getting a starter job.

    21. (321) Antti Raanta (Chi - G)

Same as above although Crawford is actually good unlike Pavelec.

    22. (352) Mikael Backlund (Cgy - C)

    Solid filler C.

    23. (353) Alexandre Burrows (Van - LW,RW)

    Filler winger.

    24. (384) Kyle Palmieri (Anh - RW)

Injured, but can be stashed to the IR.

    25. (385) Ryan Murphy (Car - D)

Just a long-shot pick as there's some suggestion he'll be getting 1st PP unit time in CAR. I didn't really like anyone left at this point of the draft either.

As for other teams, I like Edmonton Clowns (good skaters and goaltending) most by a decent margin. Next tier would include Kings Landing (skaters are strong, but I feel Backstrom/Enroth will just kill the team in W and GAA), Goner For Connor(strong goaltending with above average skaters), Savages(strong goaltending with above average skaters) and First Blood(above average skaters and should finish high in W and GAA although probably not that high in SVS).

I'll do my team analysis on Monday.
But temek/Last Resort definitely scooped the most off my queue, followed by First Blood, and then horrorfan, even on auto-draft!
I think those teams along with the Clowns should be top half of standings teams.

Goalies are always an enormous wildcard in these leagues.
Last year I went goalie-goalie (Niemi-Howard) to open my first two rounds.
First time I ever (ever!) strayed from my standard skater-heavy strategy.
First time I ever (ever!) finished bottom half of a league (8th/15).

    Thus... I didn't go goalie-heavy again.
(aside from Varly, which was actually the pick in my draft I like least... but looking back, if I would have waited for my 3rd round pick, I'd have been in deep trouble).
I think I'm a lock for top-half as I feel I have one of the three best skater squads in the league ("Eh" Team and auto-draft Zorro team also skater-heavy).
I just need a goalie finish around 1/3rd of goalie points to be top three.
If I can get middling stats from my goalies, I've got a shot to win.

I will do my team breakdown/strategy later this week as well as my picks for the strongest teams. At a glance I like Kings Landing but to be honest I never had too much time to look through all of the rosters yet.

    The "Eh" Team
C: Malkin (RW), H Sedin, Krejci, Komarov
    LW: Pavelski(C), JVR, M Richards(C), Lecavalier(C)
    RW: Backes(C), R Johansen(C), Nyquist(C), Forsberg(C)
D: E Johnson, J Schultz, Girardi, Maatta, Myers, Ellis
    Bench: Reinhart, King, Upshall, Murray
    Goalie: Scrivens, Ward, Lehner

Goalies fall off the board very quickly in these drafts, every year. Different strategy's for different folks however I feel goalies are not reliable enough to invest in early. Similar to Pengwin I also believe i have the strongest skaters in the league and believe if i manage my goalies properly that I am a top 5 team. I hated drafting 3rd and took Malkin based on his dual eligibility and banking on a big year; would have prefered to pick 7-10 overall for sure. Really happy with the flexibility i have with dual positions (although i believe Yahoo is WAY to generous with this), I have 8 forwards with dual.

Should be interesting to see how this season goes

Definitely made a few mistakes with my team (Ott Man Out). For sure the most challenging draft I have been a part of. I missed drafted my goalies a bit, should have taken Smith or Luongo instead of Hedman in rnd 4, if Kuemper can get the majority of starts in Minny i could do ok, if not I could be in trouble. I was really hoping to get Price or Karlsson in rnd 1, to optimistic for the 15th spot i guess!

I ended up with probably too many young unproven guys (Schiefele,RNH,Toffoli,Granlund,Monahan,Grigorenko ) Hopefully maybe half of them have a "breakout" year

I reached on Hedman a bit, but TB should be an elite team and he is still young, could get 60+ pts this season with good +/-?

I am hoping i got good draft value from Kunitz, Kane, Enstrom(injured today), Doan and maybe bounce back for Ericksson on the Bruins top line.

Like everyone else I am sure, I had so many players on my que picked within a few spots before, so I always felt a bit scrambly!

    Good luck to all

I came into the draft very unprepared, and i find i go G/D heavy early when i do that, and it shows in this draft. I also made some tweaks to a program i created for drafting support, only to find out half way that my "what to draft for recommendation" wasn't aligning with the proper stats so i went a bit heavy in some areas and missed out on some i needed. Normally when i use my sheet i come out (based on my projections) with a top 3 team, this time i was ranked 9th!
I don't have much to say other than i like my goalies and my D but i am hurting a bit up front. I will have to see what the year brings as last year i got hit hard by injuries and you just never now but i think i will need some luck or to find a partner that wants to dance to offset some of my weakness with my strength.
