Default D.Sedin vs A.Pietrangelo Points only

    Team and league in sig.
D.Sedin's owner offered me a straight up swap for my A.Pietrangelo.
    Forward vs Dman!
    Tough call.
A sound advice I read on this forums for a situation like this is:

"How much points does the player give you from the last counting player.
    In a 12-team pool, 12x9F = 108F.
    12x4D = 48D.
Look at a full year of NHL stats and find that player's point totals."
    (credit to Pengwin7)

Let's say Pietrangelo gets 53 points.
The 48th Dman gets 35 points.
    -18 points

Let's say the 108th forward gets 49 points.
D.Sedin would have to get 67 points to even things out.

    Question:
Do you see D.Sedin reaching 67 points?
    Over?
    Under?
Do you keep Pietrangelo no matter what?
    I already own H.Sedin...

    Thanks guys!

He definitely could, and I don't mind the idea of tying myself to the Sedin brother's bounce back season but I still probably don't do the deal. I'd wait to see how the draft goes. I'd rather go into the draft with one above-average D and allow myself the chance to draft for value rather than needing to pick four D.

Even if Sedin does hit those numbers or higher, high end dmen are much harder to come by than forwards. Add to that it's a keeper league, and there's no way I'd do that deal. I a year or two you'd be kicking yourself.

Agree the above statements. The production AP gives you from his slot would be harder to replace than the production Sedin gets from his.

You have to look at the replacement level of defensemen before you trade them. AP is well above the average replacement level in my league, as I'm sure he is in your league too. The owner who is offering you this deal probably knows this and is being "sneaky" or "smart" by covering it up with a forward, who on paper, will score more points.

Lundqvist, Price, Rask, Quick and maybe Crawford (he's looking for another keeper).

You must not do this deal Le Trefle. Pietrangelo is worth far far more in your league with 4D and 9F, and you already have an ungodly trio at forward such that Sedin will be an afterthought. No way you can replace Pietrangelo as easily as you can replace a DSedin. Build your team around Pietrangelo at D, you won't go wrong. Plus, do you want to risk the Sedins having a bad year and you having kept both as keepers?

PS I think Daniel and Henrik have a renaissance year and easily surpass the 67-pt mark this year, think 75+ - too many indicators that the last two years were the aberration not the rule. That said they are 33-34 and their production is certainly in decline, just not as much as last year would have us believe.

    I wouldn't expect a signifcant one

I am actually leaning towards making the trade, I think the deal at worst is an even deal and I think it has the potential to be better

a 65-70 point season I think is a fair expectation and anything more is gravy

guys like Wiz and Giordano and Shatty and Niskanen will get close enough to AP to make going for this deal worth it IMO

there are many more under the radar 40+ point defensemen than 60+ forwards so you can make up the difference of losing AP

I'm passing this up and not losing any sleep over it. From my perspective Pietrangelo is a keeper for you, D Sedin clearly is not. Something else significant would have to come my way before I would consider and from what you are saying that's not likely. Pass.
