Default Last keeper - Parise or Byfuglien?

This is for not for the league in my sig.

    Settings are:
    13 team, keep 4, fantasy-points league
    8F, 3D, 1G, 2 bench, 1 IR
Daily lineups, Max 82 GP per position
    50 moves per season
    Scoring: G=1, A=1, +/- =0.2, PPP=0.5, SHP=0.5, GWG=1, SOG = .02

We keep 4 and Benn, Kessel and Toews are my first three the last spot comes down to a choice between Parise or Byfuglien. Keepers have to be submitted on Monday.

Last season their numbers in our league were as follows:
    Parise - 78.40 pts total / 1.17 pts per game (67 GP)
    Byfuglien - 71.12 total / .911 pts per game (78 GP)

This season Byfuglien has D eligibility again which is why I am considering him but who knows what will happen next season. Also I don't know whether his switch to forward will actually help his numbers. As of right now am I going with Parise but I wanted to get some more opinions. Which guy would you keep?

    Cheers, wc17

With those settings and the uncertainty of Buff's positional eligibility along with Minnesota's (IMO) upward trajectory, I'd go with Parise.

I think Parise as well, after this year buffs value craters.

If Buff has D eleigibilty then I would go with him. It would be easier to redraft Parise.

Parise. LW is so hard to fill with decent guys and like STL said, Buffs value will take a massive hit after this year due to position while Parises will stay relatively the same.

Byfuglien... too valuable to pass up with dual eligibility.

    Basically same as everybody else.

If you're in the running this year I go Buff. If not I'd be leery of d eligibilty (just shipped him off due to this reason after 4 solid years on my team).

You may be able to trade him for more but if it's to sit and stand pat I'd choose parise.

Thanks for the input fellas. We can't make trades prior to the draft so no chance of trading either to someone else. I finished second in the league last year but with a keep 4 it really comes down to the yearly draft as to whether or not you are going to challenge for the win. Any more input is welcome.

Gotta submit my keepers tonight by midnight. Going with Parise as my fourth unless someone can convince me otherwise. I am hoping that Buff's O-Rank on Yahoo will allow me re-draft him easily.

    I hadn't yet chimed in.
I like Parise in an 8F/3D setting.

With 13 teams in play, you're looking at 104 counting forwards & only 39 counting D.
It's all about "relative difference" here.

    In a 6F/4D... I'd say Buff.
In a 9F/5D... might even be Buff.
But in 8F/3D... I think Parise.

Buff seems to only be getting slower and I actually don't see him doing much at even-strength forward.
    Less minutes actually.
Strange that Winnipeg could actually use him at a lower minute usage (& forward) and be a better team.
But he was something like -20 last year, I think... and he's really not a high-quality real NHL value player... and that is something that might come haunt his fantasy value this year.

With Buff having D eligibility this really does make it tight, but I think the fact that you only have 3 roster spots for defenceman evens it back out, Parise for me.

I would need to see who is likely being kept on D. If there is slim pickings on D, I go Buff.
