I like the logic, but I think Monahan will play top line minutes while Strome is second fiddle to Tavares. I am more inclined to say these two will both be near the 60 point range in another season or two.Originally Posted by rainydrinkwater

Strome is the safer pick, but if Monohan clicks with Jonny Hockey and or Sam Bennett look out, cause Strome is number 2 center max upside.

That's my thinking too Monahan is going to have top line minutes whereas the log jam of forwards on the Island he may never even see the top line.

Tough one.. I`d say Strome long term but you said over the next two years. Monahan is for sure going to be a integral part of the Flames. Strome is still wading into the league and is in a fight for a spot out of camp. Next two years... I go with Monahan.

Strome is a point getter. It wouldn't surprise me that he'll end up playing alongside JT on the Isles first PP. And on the second trio, he'll have less stiff competition to play against. Monahan is more of a goal scorer. He'll get eventually 40, imo, but will top 60 points. Strome can do more.

I want Strome. Might be the Isles best forward this year. The points are going to roll by the boatload for this kid, soon.
For the stats geeks:
- top 10 in the league for even-strength points per 60
- only guy in the top 10 who starts most of his shifts in the defensive zone.
Buyer Beware - he has a terrible coach who rarely uses his players to their strengths (which explains why Strome is currently centering the 4th line).

I take Strome. I could see why you would play it safer and go with Monahan although I don't see the elite offensive upside that Strome has as a playmaker.

I have Monahan and I would take Strome. I think they will be close, but I think Strome possibly has an extra offensive gear
