Default How many more productive years for Marian Hossa?

I have plenty of good defensemen and a GM would like to swap Hossa for one of my youngsters (Shattenkirk, McDonagh, Carlson, Trouba).
I'm in a win-now mode and I've been flirting with the top for 3 years. Points only league, 11 team, 12 fwds - 6 dmen - 2 goalies.

Question is: do you see Marian Hossa declining? I haven't watch him a lot the past few years. Any clues?
    Thanks people.

    Not for that price.

We don't know, that's the thing. Two, three maybe? Five? And with the same decent amount of points?

Anyways, I'd go after someone more reliable for your win now mentality if one of those four you are offering up, I'd lose Carlson. Tough decision.

Hossa is always an injury away from retirement.

I think we see the last of him, from a fantasy perspective anyways, after two more seasons if he avoids any major injuries.

Hmmm. Hard to assess value for you without seeing the rest of your team... But if you were to do this... Carlson would be the only moveable asset IMO.

I think we'll start to see a decline in Hossa's game. Keep in mind that last year Hossa was still at a 0.83 pt/g pace.

I could see something like these points over the next few years- 65, 60, 58 with good shot totals and a good +/-. Granted, he's been relatively healthy the last couple seasons and he does have the history of getting injured.

Not sure I would trade any of those dmen for Hossa. There's got to be a better target out there.

If you are in a win-now mode, I'd have no issues grabbing Hossa for Carlson.

I have to agree that seeing your entire roster would make this choice a lot easier though. Hard to know if you even NEED Hossa or not.

Seems like Carlson would be the only one worth moving...

Right now, I'm in the classic situation where I have more valuable players than I can protect. Forgot to mention that it is a keep 12 from your previous roster.
As of now, my keepers look like this:

    N.Backstrom - E.Staal - M.St-Louis - J.Pavelski - B.Wheeler - R.Nash - J.Skinner - E.Kane
    K.Shattenkirk - N.Kronwall - R.McDonagh | possibly J.Trouba - J.Carlson
    P.Rinne | possibly S.Mason

So by acquiring Hossa I would have to drop a player like E.Kane or R.McDonagh... I'm not sure I want to do it, that's why I was trying to gather intel on Hossa.
I have pieces to build an interesting offer to the other GM, who also has H.Zetterberg and J.Benn who would be of potential targets. He is rebuilding, so Benn might be a long-shot but still. So a 2 for 1 or even a 3 for 1 type of offer that would allow me to slide J.Trouba onto my keepers list. What should I do?

Thanks people, distributed REP to insightful answers!

in win now mode, I would trade trouba for hossa in a heartbeat. I don't believe in trouba, and I like Carlson more than him

As far ahead as I am willing to look I have no problem owning Hossa in any format and value him very highly. Personally I would move Carlson for him.

Well, that sucks. So really, you are thinking of trading out a D who may or may not already be a keeper for you for Hossa. That certainly changes things a bit. If you make this deal, you really aren't making it any easier on yourself for choices are ya. LOL!

If it was me, I'd seriously consider trading Carlson for Hossa and I would be dropping Rick Nash (who I have less love for than Hossa in a pts only) before I'd drop EKane or McDonagh.

So you're contemplating trading a D that you probably can't keep (Carlson) for a winger that you probably can't keep (Hossa)?
If that's the case, and he's horny for a young D, I certainly entertain the idea of packaging a D (pick one) and another Fwd like Wheeler for Jamie Benn.
You'll come away with the strongest keeper.
