    Default Yak/Buff/Varly for Weber/Price/Ry. Jo.

I'm trying to gauge another GMs interest in some of my pieces, he offered a deal totally ridiculous and I am countering with this; he is a bit cap heavy going into this year which is what I'm trying to tip here. What do you think? A deal worth doing if he wants to? I'm also hesitant of Buff's D eligibility after this upcoming year.

    Yak/Buff/Varly for Weber/Price/Ry. Jo.

    Weber > Buff
    Price >> Varly
    Ry. Jo. < Yak

There's the equations IMO... You do the math.

This looks good. however i may change it to RY. Jo. > Yak (based on yak's perceived value (or lack thereof))

Can't disagree with either of the first two posts because I think Yak and RyJo will eventually be pretty equal with RyJo getting the edge right now. Two years from now, the difference will be negligible.

I don't see how these equations are supposed to work. I know it's just meant to be a quick way to gauge value but it can be extremely misleading. Is the amount Weber is better than Buff the exact same as the amount Yak is better than Ry. Jo?? What if you compare the players differently?

    Weber vs Varly
    Price vs Yak
    Ry. Jo vs Buff

Does that change anything? In some cases it certainly would. The only way to compare value is to do:

Weber + Price + Ry. Jo VS Buff + Varly + Yak

I just don't see how breaking it down to a set of 1vs1's works unless you take into account every possible set of 1vs1's - not just 1.

That said, I would want the Weber/Price side

I'd take the Price side without a moments hesitation.

Also..... salary considerations as well as Buff MIGHT not be D in 2015-2016.

I'm not a fan of Buff. His size doesn't usually condone a graceful decline. Bigger guys usually decline fast and I have a feeling it's coming sooner rather than later for him.

I get that angle... But Ry. Jo. Has proven to be a greedy pig trying to handcuff his team after 1 very good season. Really... I think the jury is out on both Ry. Jo. And Yak. So say Ry Jo = yak ?

OK, did you just say Yak > Ryan Johansen?

I do not agree with that at all, HB.
But you already know what I think of Crapupov.

I would do this deal if it were me, I dont see how you lose.

I almost hope that Crapupov breaks out and wins the Richard trophy this year. Highly, highly unlikely, but I'd LOVE to see it for not other reason that your deep rooted love of him.

The only Edmonton player who has a chance to win the Richard is Taylor Hall. However, I do think Yak has a good chance to lead the league in minus this year. His -33 came up 6 points short but of all the "leaders" he played by far the least minutes. I feel with a really good effort and some added ice time, Yak can easily break -40 this year. Do they give a trophy for that?

Back to the OP, I wouldn't do that deal if I were him. I lose the deal, no matter how you slice it.
