My Couture + Nyquist for Thornton + St. Louis

Hey guys, got this offer in league in sig (points only). I think this does make my team better for the coming year, but I would bet that in 1-2 years the scales will tip drastically the other way. An important side-note is that in this league is that we employ "kingmaker" trading -- midseason trades carry over all the points players have accrued during the year. So, my inclination with this offer is to refuse for now, and instead trade those same two guys (Couture and Nyquist) to gain guaranteed points at the deadline, rather than gambling on a now-stripped captain in Big Joe, and an aging MSL who managed just half a point per game with the NYR between the regular season and playoffs.

Is this a hair-brained mistake on my part, or am I being reasonable to refuse for the moment?

Without hesitation decline this offer. Nyquist and Couture will produce better than Thornton and St. Louis.

You can evaluate things midseason and see how you stack up, but for now this is a trade you should not make.
Especially in a keeper league.

i saw an easy dont do it to this trade. you have the right idea of dealing them at the deadline for guarantueed points

I've never been in a points carry over league, but it sounds good to me... Make the trade later if it will give you extra points... And if it doesn't then good for not trading.. Sounds like a good strategy the way people value youth.

Keep your young guys. The point difference won't be that much and JT and St.Louis likely won't have that many years left anymore whereas Couture and Nyquist are just starting to enter their prime years.

I would decline.. i recently bit the bullet and traded way thornton, cant see him being more than a 60-70 point player for ~2-3 more seasons, while couture should be doing that for years to come.
