Default Tell me about Dmitri Orlov

Just picked him up in free agency and was able to stash him in my minors...

I know Green is likely gone after this year I'm assuming.... but Carlson and Niskanen will remain for some time....

    whats his 3 year outlook?

Best skating D on the team. Was Russia's best defender and point leader (among D's) during WC before he hurt his wrist.

On a side note, Ovechkin and Orlov are very good friends. Might mean nothing but if Mr Suckypants gets his way, like he usually does could mean bigger things for Orlov.

I have him and I'm holding onto him in my keeper.

I liked Orlov, right up until Washington signed Matt Niskanen. Orlov will get some decent PP2 time but as long as Niskanen is there, he is the right handed shot who will be getting PP1 time.

I can't see him being much more than a 30-35pt Dman most years. Still respectable but should be better.

He's buried on the depth chart now so I would expect 20-30 pts. An injury could push him into play though, so it's not a bad pickup.

I have to pay him 1/65 million in my minors though so, there's that slight downside.... Hoping he pans into a 35+ point Dman in 3 seasons time.

Cheers for those that added their thoughts!

I owned Orlov for awhile in my keeper league, but dropped him for Cody Ceci in January when I read that Orlov was threatening the Capitals about playing time. Apparently, if he didn't appear in X number of games before the end of the season, he was going back to Russia. Being good friends with Ovi is good for him, but I don't want to have to worry about him bolting to the KHL every time something doesn't go his way. Especially because I think there are plenty of options out there who will score 40 points from the blueline and who are may be sitting on the waiver wire right now. Guys like T.J. Brodie and Jason Demers.
