    Default [Re-signed] Jakob Silfverberg

Jakob Silfverberg signs with the Ducks. One year, $850,500. http://capgeek.com/player/2063
    https://twitter.com/capgeek/status/500112118709223424

Now that's a cheap deal. Great value for Silf owners in cap leagues.

    Dirt cheap!

I wonder if the amount of his contract tells you something when it comes to his level of expectations within the franchise.

Great signing. I'm really impressed in the Ducks management. Anaheim and Chicago, even Pittsburgh... How these teams can keep their superstars happy and still bring in legit talent to improve their team without taking a hit on their future assets... Clearly models for other managements. Agreed, nice cap value but not exactly a huge vote of confidence in Silf from the Ducks. He's going to have to step things up cause a one year for just over 800k has press box written all over it??

Yes that's the main concern is why didn't he command more respect and more money?

Is it just good negotiating or do they prefer Etem, Smith-Pelley, Palmieri?

I tried to shop him a bit, but there wasn't a ton of interest. How long before he heads back to Europe, or, at the very least, gets shipped off to another team? Will he ever be fantasy relevant in a points only league?

His development in the NHL hasn't been what I hoped, but there is still potential there. This is as much of a show-me deal as we're going to get.

This depth of the Anaheim forwards is the problem, I agree. I don't think he'll be relavent until he gets a change of scenery. Third line guy at best in Anaheim IMO and none of the guys ahead of him are going anywhere soon.

At best, eh? Besides Getzlaf, Perry and Kesler which other three Ducks' are locks for the top-6 over Silf?

Silf will most likely get very good looks either next to G&P or with Kesler on the 2nd line. There's plenty of competition there, for sure, but I don't see Silf being the forgotten man. He will get atleast as good chances as Etem, Palmieri, DSP and Maroon.

He may get some 2nd line looks but I think he spends the bulk of his time on the 3rd line behind the guys you've mentioned above as well as potentially Heatley (I can't beleive I'm saying it) and Beleskey. I could be wrong but that's how I see it play out.

Maybe he wanted a one year deal because he's confident he can earn a much larger contract next summer.

Good deal for the ducks, but if he plays well this season they could be losing money longterm..
